The Minnesota accent is quite atrocious, and I'm part Swedish myself... but it's horrible.

I have to concur on the Minnesota accent. Its right up their with the Boston accent.

those are bad but the southern accent bugs me the worst, and im from north carolina.

What would you all say is the best accent? I think for men it's Australian, and for women it's British.

Proof that it's all very subjective. Every time I watch the BBC I wonder how the Brits ever manage to procreate.

I wish the entire New England would somehow break away from the US and drift off into the Atlantic. And take the Pats, Red Sox and Celts with em!
A while ago it was reported that New jersey did that only to be discovered later that it was a giant Garbage Scow.

Before I moved to Boston I was under the misconception that all here in Boston spoke with that accent only to realize after I moved here that it's a minority of the residents, usually the Southies (those from South Boston).

Seriously, I just cringe everytime I hear it. I wonder if people from Boston realize how stupid they sound.

I thought the same thing about Southern accents before I moved to North Carolina. There are a lot of transplants here who have different accents, but I've met a lot of native Southerners that don't really have a Southern accent. But I've found that even on those people that don't sound like they have an accent, you can usually hear a bit of an accent come through on certain words. Then of course there is one of my co-workers who's accent is so thick that even natives here can't understand him.

Anyone remember "Boston Rob" from Survivor? Yeh, I did watch it back then. Gawd he was annoying, his voice especially.

That Family Guy commercial, that has been aired lately, is hilarious.

Peter is being asked patriotic questions, and is asked "America is the land of the free and home of the BLANK."

He answers, "Tha Whoppa?"

LOL! Peter makes the accent hilarious, This Old House style...

Take a little visit to Bar Harbor, Maine if you think the Boston acent is bad.

Bar Harbor has nothing on Millinocket, its not in the middle of nowhere but you can see it from there

I've lived in the Boston area for about 4 years and still laugh when I hear some people talk. I can maybe understand if they either didn't pronounce R's at all or added them where they don't belong. But, somehow they have managed to combine the two (bah, cah vs. Idear, antennaer, lamdar).

I grew up in Brookline, MA and didn't know a single person who I saw on a daily basis that spoke with a Boston accent until I went to high school (my school was in Boston).

These days, the Boston accent, like Red said, is really confined to a small area within the city. The accent still is still very present along the North shore, although with some slight modifications.

New York accents are bad, Boston accents are bad, but nothing on earth is more frustrating to understand than a southern accent mixed in with an Asian accent

Nothing sexier than a *cultured* southern accent on a hot chick. It's the redneck at the buffet that ruins it 🙂 I imagine the English feel the same way about cockney...
