I have a $120 Toslink Monster cable that was considered the Holy Grail of digital audio cable. I need a Bose system that I can pair this with. Anybody want to sell me theirs?

I actually saw Monster cables at a local cheap store (it buys old stuff from other stores and sells it for a few bucks - say, $40 hair buzzer = $7). They were about $3-4 bucks. And I always thought Monster was good...

Agreed. The Best Buy/Magnolia sells the Monster HDMI 1000 cable for like... 275 bucks for a 12 footer. Why?!?

I've seen a lot of audiophiles debate this back and forth... is there really a difference between one cable vs. another? And the fact that they even have to debate it at all suggest to me that any difference, if there is one, is small enough that all the audiophiles aren't even noticing it. Otherwise there'd be nothing to debate about. And if the difference is indeed so small, or nonexistent, why pay all that extra money?

oh friggin christ - a thread about Apple being over priced and a thread bashing Bose - are we celebrating Halloween by resurrecting threads that refuse to die?

Those are just for the suckers that are dumb enough to spend that kind of money on a freaking cable. If you're that dumb to buy it, it's your fault. Working at Best Buy Home Theater, I ALWAYS suggest the cheapest HDMI cables first, since there is no real benefit on the Monsters. If the customer insists on Monster, then I say go ahead.

Yup, exactly. I guess I just have trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that they actually DO SELL cables at that price. I instead went to a local hardware store and found a 15 foot HDMI cable for like... I think it was $30. Much better.
