I don't even know why I'm writing this, for it will most likely be ignored (what a surprise, I'm 19 year old, no political party cares about me anyway), but people...
This is the exact type of garbage that turns off people my age.
I'm talking about both sides here. I find it so disgusting to see all you people argue like 3rd graders fighting over their Nintendo 64's and Playstation's. What hurts me more is that most of you are adults twice my age.....this worries me.
Let me tell you about my mother and father, both whom voted...
My father voted for George W. Bush. When I asked him why, he simply stated that it would offer my family better tax breaks. In the last six months of following the capaign in order to make his decision, he never once made a deragatory remark about Al Gore.
He never once called him "BORE", never once ridiculed the people who supported Gore and voted for him, and as a man of middle age, I would be shocked to see my father talk like someone younger than even I.
My mother voted for Albert Gore. When I asked her why, she told me because she felt he was a better choice for president, and she felt he would carry on Clinton's "regime" (so to speak), which she liked. In the past six months of her decision making, I never heard my mother say anything like "George W. is an idiot" or anything even close to that degree.
She never once felt the need to insult GW, never once said that the people who follow him are selfish and rich, and as a woman of middle age, I would be dissapointed in my mother if she did so.
My mother and father have been married for 20 years. They voted for two different people to run our country. Neither ever ridiculed another by telling to other to "suck it up", "eat it", or any of the plethora of verbal attacks I've seen from countless members on this board.
You know what my mother and father did in the end?
They voted for who they thought was the best person for the job, and left it at that.
I'm sorry if I lost you in my writing. The point is to just think about all the arguing, and what it really accomplishes. If your goal is to absolutely turn off the young people of this country, the one's who will be running it in the future, the ones who will be paying your social security, and the ones who are turing out,
less and less, each and every election.....
....then job well done.
