a lot of this stuff is pure guesstimate based on a similar sized lot 2 streets down - which is worthless for anything but saying "wow cool site"

Everyone seems to agree that the data is pretty accurate for Southern California. Did a check on mine and all my surrounding neighbors and seems like it's pretty accurate. They were off by $6k on my neighbor's house and they couldn't have known the sales data yet as it was just sold last week.

Prices are no where near accurate in Northern Utah in Davis County. Homes that I know sold for more than a million dollars this last year are showing up in the $300,000 range.

Also a home that I know sold for more than $350,000 more than 10 years ago shows (and the houses around it) are only worth $190k, even though there are some for sale right now near the million dollar mark.

Texas residents can skip this site - Home sale prices are not public information in Texas.
Correct. Zillow.com is only as accurate as the public data that is available in your area.

"Were sorry but we have no information for your zip code." Ah, employment security.
Yep. RE Appraisers are running scared on this stuff. As they should be.
