you do know you can press "E" and it locks an item for comparison, right?

and those "rock tanks" - crystalisks - i kill them in 3 sniper shots, 1 to each leg (critical spots).

Yes - but you can't set it up where it compares against the same types of weapons...

Grenades, etc - at least those are filtered.

Anyone know if using a Golden Key autosaves, or if you can altF4 if you don't like your haul and use it again? I'm tempted to try one to see what I get but don't want to be disappointed.

apparently it's stored in your profile.something file, if you back that up & restore it, it may keep your keys?

I think they changed the way the game handles keys when they patched the .ini cheat. I'd be surprised if there was a local file holding key info, otherwise people would be talking about hacking that as well.

They are hacking that, or rather training it.

The only ones I've seen that still work with gold keys are paid trainers. Not that interested, considering how (relatively) easy it is to farm better loot. Just curious if there's a way to peek in the chest without wasting a key (e.g., use key, then altF4).

Take one for the team and try it! ;)

EDIT:

Also consider possibly copying out your profile and possibly pasting it back in just in case it writes to your profile on key use.

Lol if Randy posts another code soon I will. I'll let you know, but I doubt it will work...it's too easy to dupe items by dropping them for others to pick up and then force quitting.

EDIT: It saves the second you use the key, as the chest is opening. Oh well, at least I got an awesome sniper rifle for my trouble.

I can't be the only one who accidentally opened the chest the first time I was in Sanctuary. They need to mark it somehow. Add a confirmation message before opening it or something.

Agreed. That's how I wasted my first one, but I stopped complaining when Randy Pitchford started giving away a ton of free keys. Also, while I maintain that it's still completely unnecessary, I found a free trainer with a working hotkey for unlimited golden keys in the Steam version of the game. PM if you want a link.

Yeah, I accidentally opened it once the first time too.

It's really not a huge deal though - in fact, I'd actually recommend opening it fairly early, between level 10-20. It never contains anything better then a purple, and once you have access to the bigger bosses, you can run them repeatedly for purples. Better to use it early, before you have a convenient farming boss.

That's true in theory, but keep in mind that the chest can contain completely useless items (e.g., sniper mods for your commando), and also that the chest always drops items exactly at your level, but bosses rarely do (until you get to 2.5, that is, where everything is lvl 50).

I might try opening it a time or two. I've got 11 keys right now, and Randy said that he will be tweeting a few more over the weekend. He said that eventually they'll be in the Message of the Day.

That's why I'm wondering if you can just overwrite your entire "profile" to revert it back. Since Golden Keys are overarching, I'm guessing that it's not just tied to your Siren or your Commando, but to whatever character is played for your Steam account.

It's possible. I haven't bothered to check out the architecture of the trainer I found to see what it's editing. When it gives "unlimited" keys the total jumps to 101 and doesn't change when you open the chest. When you close the trainer, however, you still have 101, but you lose one with each successive opening. So whatever it's doing, it's only doing while it's open.

Pretty sure I got an orange assault rifle from that box.

I was wondering if anyone who got sick playing the first game (due to the FoV) has tried this game and no longer gets sick? I really liked the first, but I would feel ill after about 20-30 minutes whenever I would play. If the updated FoV fixes this for others, I would be willing to buy the game and try it out.

I have never gotten sick from playing games before (played BL1 without any problems that I remember) but when I play BL2 I feel a little something coming on. I am playing on a laptop that barely gets 30 FPS though, and I wonder if that has something to do with it. It seems that there is a "bob" when I walk around which is causing my eyes to get a little wobbly when I play.

I wouldn't say sick, but it definitely took my eyes a couple of days to adjust when I first started playing the original. The first thing I did when I got 2 was push the FOV as far out as it would go and I have not had any problems.

However I have seen a couple of people still complaining about motion sickness in 2. Also I went straight into 2 from 1, so perhaps I was still used to it.
