Have fun being manly men and scrubbing away with your bar of soap.

Axe's "Recovery" shower gel is GOOD. I've had females walk by me and sniff and comment on how nice I smell. so $4 bottle of axe > .50 bar of crap soap.

And they immediately proceeded to fuck a outlaw biker that hasn't showered in a week.

the term Metreosexual cracks me up, I love females, and simply because I attempt to be as clean as I possibly can (which I can't with only a bar of soap and a rag) I'm somehow close to being gay. If being clean means I'm semi gay than I guess I'm semi coming out of the closet. If being a man requires me to be dirty and unclean I probably am better off handing in my man card. Call me crazy, but I like to be C L E A N.

Chalk one up for the marketing guys.

You don't need to spend $4 on Axe. It smells decent and so do other "manly" products like Old Spice shower gel, but honestly, Suave for men is like $1.50 a bottle and it's manly enough. I tried Axe once because it was on sale for $2.50. Great but honestly for $1.50 I'll be fine with Suave.

With that said I do use body wash. I also shampoo AND condition. My gf just bought me $5 Neutrogena triple thick conditioner or whatever but that's because my hair IS thick and even Loreal Vive can't help me that much ><

Fixed. 😛
Hmm. My wife bought some sort of Irish Spring soap for me that evidently contains some type of grit in it.

I didn't know, and used it in the shower....once.

Let's just say the more tender places didn't appreciate it.

I was damn clean, though.

I use Irish spring and I've never noticed anything like that.
I actually like Irish Spring bar soap too.
I think PacFan's wife must've bought him some Lava soap. :Q

I use soap + poof or body wash + poof, whichever is cheaper (sometimes you get really good deals on body wash). A poof is really no different than a wash cloth, it's just fluffier.

Body wash with a pouf. Why?

- leaves skin much cleaner than the alternative
- does not dry out skin as much as bar soap (especially with certain types of "sensitive" body washes)
- can be faster

"Pouf" plus bar soap = skin that is not dry

And I come from the desert. Trust me, I would know what dry skin feels like 😛

What I do like about body wash is that it lasts longer than bar soap. Bar soap tends to run out quickly, so it's good that it's usually so cheap.

Actually, I was going to suggest that I smell a viral marketing campaign.

Bar soap doesn't work for me, sorry.

We have hard water. Bar soap leaves me feeling like I'm covered in soap scum (because I am...). Body wash rinses clean.

I usually buy the "for men" Softsoap brand stuff. It doesn't have all the moisturizers and stuff that I don't need.

I use body wash + pouf. I don't have a body wash of preference. It's usually what smells appealing to me when I'm shopping for bathroom essentials.

If you're having dry skin after you shower, just lotion up with any brand of extra-dry skin lotion. This will help a lot, and almost make the choice of using either bar soap or body was irrelevant.

I switched to body wash around the turn of the century and never looked back. It makes a noticeable difference on the skin. After showering it feels ... softer? .... more supple? haha It's not just marketing hype. Anyway, bar soap isn't even a consideration anymore ... for any purpose.
The pouf may seem fussy but it makes a lot of suds and holds the liquid, so it's necessary.

I generally pick the stuff one tick above the cheapest. If you pay much more than bottom dollar you're just paying for the brand. If it's cheap and I like the smell, it's mine.

body wash + poof, though I'll skip the poof if I'm in a hurry.

Yea I hate to say it but when I was 20, a girl I was dating got me one of those poofs and they clean really well. Body wash + poof

Poof actually makes it faster for me.

Many soaps feel greazy because, well, they are -being made from rendered animal fat. Some even tout moisturizing properties from lanolin which is just sheep goo akin to one's own hair grease.

I find vegetable based glycerin soap such as Pears does not suffer said greaziness and washes off cleanly sans residue feeling. Plus, it is not disgusting. So, I use that sparingly with a loofah pad or wash cloth ("face cloth") and scrub brush for nails. Fastidiously clean nails are a natural development of wearing contact lenses, if nothing else.

The advantage to cloths is they are sanitary (single-use before laundering) whereas loofahs are a bit dodgy and do not hold up well to laundering. Some cloths lack sufficient abrasiveness though so cheaper varieties may actually be better (Costco institutional bulk).

Those body parts besides the obvious dirty ones do not necessarily get soap every time -particularly the limbs. Ditto, hair gets shampoo as necessary -every alternate washing or so. The face gets a cetyl alcohol cleanser such as Cetaphil, rather than soap, to likewise avoid excessive drying. Admittedly, such cleanser does not "feel clean" if accustomed to soap so requires becoming reaccustomed unless already used to following with a moisturizer.

This is not a Patrick Bateman monologue.
