Okay, I'm 18 years old and I'm not really that super builded but I'd like to gain some muscle weight. I don't know how to start, where to look, etc... So I decided to ask here.

Where should I start? What should I read? What should I do as exercices and when should I do them? Should I take some supplements like Protein or Calorie drinks and stuff? What should I eat?

I'd like some links or personnal recommendations on what worked for you.

Thanks alot.

Yeah that's what I'll do but I'd like to get some more info from the internet also. So far I found this. It looks pretty cool for abs training. 🙂

I'm not a fan of personal trainers or commercial gyms or most machines in general.

Most people at least at some point in their lives need strength to bend down and lift heavy things right? Deadlifts would simulate this and it's a great exercise but most personal trainers wouldn't think of suggesting them. Squats are another great exercise that can build lots of muscle but most trainers won't recommend that either.
And as for these forums, forget it. One guy asked about ab exercises a few days ago and another member told him to avoid working his obliques because they could grow and it might make him look fat. Sure, let's not worry about growing muscle and actually getting stronger.

I have heard that true "bodybuilders" do not work obliques b/c yes, it makes them look fat. Whether it's a myth or fact, who knows.

I would recommend that you check out this site. Read it and live it. The key to building mass is nutrition and going heavy: 4-6 rep range at a weight where u reach muscle failure. Take in 1g/lb protein in protein shakes: EAS, Optimum, and Designer Whey are all good brands to start off with. Eat healthy and get the proper amount of carbs/protein/fat. Be sure to do deadlifts, squats, and benchpress, they are the 3 biggest mass building compound exercises you can do... After all this, u might be able to bench double your bodyweight like me! 🙂 🙂 Feel free to PM me with any questions...

or go to this forum to ask questions and read what other are doing: http://anabolicreview.com

my suggestion is to start slow. Start working ALL of your body parts. Go to gym 3-4 times a week and rotate between working your chest, back, bicep, forearm, tricep, shoulders, legs, and calves. Make sure to do a little cardio and stretch before your workout in order to keep you out of injury.

and DON'T give up. Give it at least 3 months before your start seeing results. I'll bet after you see the result, you will be hooked to bodybuilding 🙂
