That was my initial guess, but you never know what those guys might have up their sleeves, they might have a plan to make the 8 series more affordable and more desirable a new concept, I mean come on people just don't know how popular the 8 series is, once they release it back can you imagine the waiting list on the M8 ?
If the M5 & M6 have a 2-year waiting list then the M8 would need a 4 year waiting list, why? The 8 series hasen't been around for a long time, and the 850CSi is becoming very very rare and so old, the 8 series crowd would just take BMW by storm. I think it would be a good move after the 5-6 years of producing the 6 series, they could take advantage of that passion people developed for the 8 series during the period that there was no more of them coming in, and just stun people with an M8 that would have a newely desgined M engine like the M5 / 6 engine or maybe a tad better and lighter.
I mean it's all IMHO, but the 8 series in the eye of BMW fans has more desire for it, and more demand too.
And to be hinest, the M6 is just a 2 door 7 series with slight modifications ( well this was true at the begining and slightly true now) while the 8 series is a concept of it's own , it uses an engine separatley designed for it while the M6 uses an M5 engine.
But I mean till now the M6 is the best car in BMW's liuneup and don't get me wrong it's an epic car, but I would still prefer an M8.
