BMW rumors.

So there is this friend of mine that owns a good deal of BMWs, and is pretty much a straight down M power enthusiast (like me) told me that he read in Bimmer magazine that BMW will stop the production of the 6 series and start the production of a newely designed 8 series within 2-4 years.

Oh I just hope this is true, I do like the 6 series but the 8 series is just a MARVEL, It's my dream car and it's just that classic bad ass attitude that it has amazing.

So can anyone confirm this rumor ?

A new 8 would be sweet.. as long as it is not an underpowered unreliable V12 engine like in the 850i 😛

The 840 was a better car from what I remember, but still looks to me like they just didn't sell them. (they are SO rare)

A new 8 would be welcome in my books!

why? the 8 was just the new 6 series when it came out. there is really nothing in a name.

I hear you. But we wouldn't have said the same thing if BMW would have released the real M8 into the market , look for it here it was a monster that was never unleashed 🙁 not even for the BMW museum :|

No you are very wrong, BMW is going to be working it between the 6 and the 8 as a rotation, so they produce the 8 series for 6-9 years or so and then they produce the 6 series for the same period then they go back 8. All the designs of the 8 and the 6 are derived from 2 different design concepts and there is no way one can be the other with just a diffeent name.

850 CSi ... for a long time i looked for one ... ppl who own them dont give them up ...

I am seeing too many 6 series here in KC ... and M6 is on lots of ppl's minds ... i doubt it tho that they will kill it ... unless they have killer specs on the 8 ...

Is that pic not the original 8 series? it's not a pic of the new one to come, it's the past car...

I had a Black BMW 328is, I loved that car 6 cylinders, manual and what not , well I totaled it in an accident, after that I decided to keep the extra cash in my pocket untill I graduate , and right now I drive a nice little Black Honda Accord Coupe 1996 manual, not a bad car at all to be honest, but after graduation, I am aiming for an 8 series 😉

Not alot of people nowadays know what kind of a rare special car the 850CSi is really. The ones who own an 850CSi spend on it a sh1t load of money in maintenance fees and what not and would rip their hands apart before letting go.

Just look on Ebay when someone has a 850CSi for sale the bids come from all over the place reaching prices like $ 80K+ , the 850CSi is a masterpiece , that's all.

Well good luck finding one in good condition.

I don't know if it's true or not but maintenance cost an a used 850 are apparently more expensive because there's two of everything under the hood. I would be happy with an 840.

To be honest I am not sure I will feel good about myself owning a car with 12 cylinders under the hood, that's way too much power, I would be happy with an 840 too, it's not too much and not too little just fits the bill, and the price is so much lower than an 850, it's a reasonable bargain, I see ones going for 15K-20K all the time and in good condition too,

This is just probably a rumor. It's unlikely that BMW would spend all that money to make a 6 couple, 6 cab & M6 just to ditch them after 3-5 years in production. My guess is the new 6 is going to be around for a looooooong time and that there's no reason to produce a new 8.

That was my initial guess, but you never know what those guys might have up their sleeves, they might have a plan to make the 8 series more affordable and more desirable a new concept, I mean come on people just don't know how popular the 8 series is, once they release it back can you imagine the waiting list on the M8 ?
If the M5 & M6 have a 2-year waiting list then the M8 would need a 4 year waiting list, why? The 8 series hasen't been around for a long time, and the 850CSi is becoming very very rare and so old, the 8 series crowd would just take BMW by storm. I think it would be a good move after the 5-6 years of producing the 6 series, they could take advantage of that passion people developed for the 8 series during the period that there was no more of them coming in, and just stun people with an M8 that would have a newely desgined M engine like the M5 / 6 engine or maybe a tad better and lighter.
I mean it's all IMHO, but the 8 series in the eye of BMW fans has more desire for it, and more demand too.
And to be hinest, the M6 is just a 2 door 7 series with slight modifications ( well this was true at the begining and slightly true now) while the 8 series is a concept of it's own , it uses an engine separatley designed for it while the M6 uses an M5 engine.
But I mean till now the M6 is the best car in BMW's liuneup and don't get me wrong it's an epic car, but I would still prefer an M8.
