Edit-I've stopped being impressed by cars I'll never own. Besides, I see so many sweet cars around here. Meh, another Ferrari 360 Spyder. Meh, another Maserati convertible. Meh, another Bentley Continental GT. M5's are just your average 4 door sedan. I doubt I'd even do a double take for one of those.

Thats one of things I love about the E39 M5. Not your average "head turner" which is what I like. Sleek, fast, 4dr sedan...that kind of just blends in.

That pitiful landing strip that they call a race track?

More of a "race track" than 99% of any of these > $50K cars will ever see. There's a reason why 0-60 and quarter mile is the defacto standard for measuring speed in a consumer vehicle.

  1. Yeah, it could almost keep up with a 38 year old domestic.

In a drag race, yes. In nearly any other situation, no.

Works for me. Where I live there are no "curves" or "twisties" it's all on ramps, straight highway, and someone always trying to start something at a light. I can't recall the last time I had to make a left turn at 150 MPH through an intersection *at all* ... , much less with someone passing me through it in a "better handling" car ... That's right, it doesnt happen!! You know what "better handling" means around here? It's an excuse to fall back on only AFTER someone gets their arse handed to them; esp funny when they start whining about "twisties" after they stepped up knowing it was a straight. "oh if there were some twisties I could have taken you". Well there aren't any here, so wtf?

Hence I won't be trading in my 700 RWHP Terminator ('03 Cobra) any time soon 😀 cept maybe after we see what Kenne Bell does with the upcoming Shelby GTR500

That said, if I ever owned a BMW (big IF, I gag at the stuck up social stigma associated with them) it would be a M. I wouldn't be caught dead in a budget 3 series. And whats with BMW going down market? WTF 1 series? If the looser at Mcdonalds that dropped out of highschool can afford a BMW because they are going down market, it just slurs the whole point of having a car like that.

I dunno. Sure, it's a great performer, but it looks like a retarded fish/pig mutant. The M6 looks too much like the Volvo C series. I liked the previous styling far better.

haha, I'll never forget when Jeremy drove that car on Top Gear... he hated it, but at the same time, he loved it.... the NAV woman would never shut up no matter what he did, hehe..

Gorgeous sounding and performing car though.. gotta love the astronomical RPM revving V10!!

Finally BMW is starting to make good looking vehicles.

I think they are slipping slightly... I prefer the 2000ish style M5... simplicity meets raw power.. one of the best cars BMW has ever made.

Yep!

sweet looking car...but whatever happened to BMW pushing the wheels to the four corners of the car? BMW's known for it short front overhang.

and although i prefer the looks of the older M5, this new M5 is one HELL of a car!!!!

wanna see what the new M3 will look like. The new 3 is BMW's best design yet

<------Still laughing.

500 HP cars are so 2003. 500 HP is the standard for mass produced high end cars these days.

you can get TWO m5s for that price.. and probably the m5 handles better too

jeez for that much I'd get a lamborghini or a ferrari.. or maybe a 911 turbo..

spending 180k for a CL is like spending 50k for a civic

C6 Z06, nuff said

Vette = redneck. Gatsby would not transport himself in that device.

Puhlease. That car would kill just about any production car under $200,000.

oohhh. so sexy!! sexiest car posted in this thread yet!!!! if I had 80K to throw on a car, Id get the C6 Z06...granted i had no kids

OK, you created just a little more social stigma all on your own there! 😛

I love the new designs but the rear on the 5 series is ugly and the front in the 7 series is, I think they should just put the 7 series's rear or the 6-series's rear on the 5 series, becasue that sharp slope in the back of the 5-series sucks A$$.

Personally, I don't find it all that attractive.

When a car makes me look more than twice, then that's something I'll consider buying.

wow this is so ironic ... i just saw one for the first time in person on my lunch break in the Jerrys parking lot. that car is SSSSOOOO FVCKING SICK! The wheels are HUGE on the thing!

i wanted to talk to the owner but he wasnt around. man oh man ... one day

BMW= Overprice, overengineered snobmobile.
Overpriced? Yes.
Overengineered? No such thing.

They make one of the finest handling sedans that you can buy, it's just that you have to shell out some -- Scratch that, I meant "A Lot Of" -- extra cash for that and some people wre willing to pay for that
