Blu-ray audio sync problems

So my most recent build has a Blu-ray drive, and I've been having this problem with every blu-ray I try to play regardless of player software. From start to finish the audio is out of sync. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, sometimes it's ridiculous (close to a second). It also varies depending on the movie. SWAT was barely noticeable throughout, but X-Men Origins is all over the place. Mostly watchable, but the areas were it isn't are highly annoying. No problems with regular DVDs.

I've tried messing around with the various setting within the player, Avivo deinterlacing, audio compression, pretty much every combination I can think of. The most I've seen is some slight improvement, but that could just be placebo effect.

Specs:
Phenom II X3 710
Radeon HD 4850 1 GB
LG UH08LS10K Internal drive
NEC AccuSync LCD24WMCX connected via dual-link DVI.
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO (using onboard audio).

Edit: Running Windows 7 Pro 64

I'm getting the same issue on a Phenom II 810 and a 4670. If I run the audio through the HDMI to the weak speakers in the monitor then it's fine, but obviously that's not much of a solution.

Hmm, not sure we really need one to be honest. I mean there is not that much BD/movie/audio traffic here, so creating a seperate sub-forum might just dilute the posts that do occur.Anyone agree? Oh and I love my blu-ray so Im not biased or anything...

I just added a BR drive to my system this weekend & I'm having audio dropouts / skipping in the beginning of the movie (District 9). I'm running HDMI from the 5850 > VSX-92TXH > Plasma.

The software is PowerDVD 9 Ultra, but it only happens when I run the .ISO image from the HDD. Playing from the disc is fine.

So to update: my monitor has stereo output, so I got some cables and adapters, routed the audio through HDMI, and it's still out of sync. Just as bad. Even off the crappy monitor speakers. So that means the problem is in the PC. Already tried two sets of player software (blowing $100 by doing so) and the sync problems are identical. So the problem is somewhere in either Windows 7 64, the hardware, or the firmware. The latter of which is up to date on everything. Been having some problems with my Radeon 4850 (minor graphical glitches in game), so I might try switching to on-board video to see what happens. I've also considered dual-booting with XP for some compatibility options, so if I decide to undertake that little project I'll try it there.

Disappointing though. This is a brand new $1200 rig built back in October, all parts factory fresh. Should work out of the box. :p

Update 2: Took out the 4850 and tried using onboard graphics (HD 4200). Same result, maybe marginally better. So there's something wrong with the motherboard/cpu/BD drive. Great. Suppose I'll try a new drive first, cheapest option, and dual drives could come in handy anyway. :p

This was using HDMI audio.

I had the same issue with HD DVDs with an LG HD DVD/blu-ray drive and PowerDVD 7 Ultra (bundled). I was eventually able to get it fixed - it was a software issue, not a hardware problem.

Already tried both Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 and ArcSoft ToalMedia Theatre 3. Identical issues. Judging by your thread it might be an issue with how the software (or Windows) interacts with LG drives. Been looking into dual drives anyway, maybe I'll pick up an ASUS this time and see what happens.

In the meantime I'll shoot off a trouble ticket to ArcSoft and Cyberlink and see what comes back.

I'm not sure what it was, but I had the same issues with WinXP, Win7, E5200 and Core i5. The update from Cyberlink fixed the problem - it wasn't an automatic update, either..their tech support gave me a link to a specific file.

If this can help you, here you go:

Tried the exe but apparently it's for a specific drive. Thanks a lot!

Ah yeah, it's for the LG HD DVD / Blu-ray combo drive..apparently it won't work with just any LG. Sorry dude. :(

It still may be worth a shot to contact Cyberlink support - I imagine they have an update for your version as well.

So I got a secondary drive (ASUS) and the problem is much reduced, flat out eliminated on some movies. So it appears that yes there is a software component, but it definitely has something to do with LG drives.
