I have been reading that there are more blood types than just A,B and O. I did some research(on wikipedia) and I see that types c, d and e are just different forms of the Rh factor. Can anyone confirm this?

The only thing I can confirm is that O+ does exist, because I have it.

Well this is a bit tricky to explain...

But if I had to it would be like MAIN categories and subcategories...

The main categories are AB, A, B, O

Sub categories include rhesus factor (+ or -) and other things I forgot about, but are even less popular.

If you wanted to get real technical about it, you can list all kinds of symbols and letters, but it wouldn't pertain to the same thing A, B, O do.

They are all blood group antigens. The ABO system identifies one type of antigen. The Rh system identifies other antigens.

Off the top of my head I can remember (in the Rh group):
C
D
E
Du
D mosaic
Rh null
f
rhi
Rh:33
Rh:32
V
VS
LW

There are more that I do not remeber.

Dont forget the M and N antigens as well.

IIRC M and N are from a separate blood group system from Rh and ABO. It is still considered a major blood group system and is called MNS.

Hey according to Wikipedia, 3% of the human population supposedly have AB+. The types rarer than that are B- and AB- in that order.

Medical records. Also, since I donate blood, I've known my blood type ever since I got one of those Blood Donor cards with all my information on it.
