Antigens (proteins) that are either present or not present on the surface of the red blood cell.

Yeah but if your O- and need blood and there is no O- in stock your SOL and will be 6 feet under shortly after(or worse like brain damaged)

They however are doing tests with "synethic" blood(which is made from real blood) that is not type specific and appears to be as effective as real blood.

becaus you blood is alot darker then the red we all think it is, its not blue but its close, it turns red when it hits oxygen
 
I have B+, which only 10% of the population has. My wife, out of sheer luck, also has B+ and is a perfect organ donar for me. Now...to harvest her organs.....
