Blisters on feet

I've been getting them lately from basketball. Nice 2 inchers.

What are some good ways to avoid them?

What to do when you get them? I want to do some running tonight but not with my feet as they are now.

Basketball did the damage. Running is no problem.

I was thinking of cranking down the laces better next time. That causes other problems in my feat though.

You wear the same shoes for running and playing basketball? Maybe get a better fitting pair of basketball shoes and save the running shoes for running.

Well the blisters are being caused by excessive movement in the shoe on a certain spot. I wore a certain shoes during floor hockey and got blisters on the bottom of my feet. Switched shoe to something meant more for cross training, and no more blisters (tighter, more form fitting shoe).

Same with hockey. I had skates for years that gave me a blister on my heel. Got better fitting skates.. No more blister.

If you have an odd foot shape, or wearing a shoe that's meant for a certain foot type, it may cause blisters/pain. For me, I have a very "wedge" like foot, ie wider toes and forefoot, skinny heel. Shoes with wider wheels give me issues.

It took years, but I finally figured out the fancy expensive premium socks actually do a much better job of protecting your feet than cheap tube socks.

I wear them all the time, not just during exercise.

Ditto the expensive gel insoles. They are nice to have in ALL your shoes.

I have used these
http://wrightsock.myshopify.com/
basically they are socks that are like two pairs in one. There are two layers of independent sock in each sock. The idea is that one layer sticks to your foot and the other does not so what rubs together are the two layers of sock and not your skin against the sock.

Sometimes I will even wear another sock over these and have three layers of socks.

They worked for me, no blisters.

Also listen to your feet, when you feel a part of your foot getting hot or irritated, stop, change socks or shoes or something before you get the full on blister.
