I've never had that issue running. Nowadays in the summer I go shirtless 100% of the time. My friends have that issue - BodyGlide type stuff works wonders for them. You might try sweat proof band-aids.

I've been using the body glide and it works great. I usually jog for 30 to 45 minutes and my nips were in good condition even after running in a downpour on Monday.

I've had this problem from time to time when running really long runs. There are usually a number of factors at hand:

1) The shirt worn is the biggest factor. I have several Saucony and Mizuno shirts that have never given me a problem. I have some nice Nike running shirts that give me issues for runs over 10 miles.

2) How much I'm sweating seems to play a part...especially when mixed with cold weather.

3) I did notice that the occurrence was significantly worse when I got out of shape a few years ago because a soccer injury and my chest area was more "fleshy" and I started running again. The occurrence of the issue has gone down dramatically since I got back into shape shortly after that.

Some possible suggestions:

1) Put a little "Glide" (found at any running store) on your nips. It's like $6 for a deodarant like applicator that lasts you forever. Mixed with a decent running shirt and you will likely not have problems any more. I actually only do this when I'm running marathon length runs. This stuff is good to have regardless for the inside of your thighs for really long runs...even with the best shorts...a long run will still irritate your inside thighs a bit depending on your build.

2) If it is really bad...put cheap bandaids on your nips. When I was out of shape...this is the technique that I employed and it worked perfectly once I found a brand/type that stayed on...but didn't stick too badly (BandAid Sheer I think it was...it's been a while).

Anyway...good luck on figuring it out

True. But I sweat so heavily that it looks like it's raining while I'm running. Sucks.

Just "raining"? LOL, when I come back from a tempo run it looks like I fell in a nearby pool. It just means you're well hydrated :).

I'm with you....after a long run, I look like I have been swimming

And Megatomic is right on as well.....by the time I get home, I am a very salt-encrusted person too. Although I wouldn't say flour, that's to fine and soft.

Best solution for me was using a compression shirt. Ran a full marathon, a large portion in the rain and had no issues at all. Previous marathon, bandaides came off in the rain. Result were two long dark streaks on my white shirt and very painful showers for the next 3 or 4 days.

Gene

I tried spandex shorts one time for a 1/2 marathon, and apparently it had a seam in the back that just about rubbed a vertical line raw on one side of my @ss. Damn did that hurt when I got in the shower.

haha I got this when I used to run. Put duct tape over your nipples. Way cheaper than going out and buying a bunch of new shirts.

Brilliant!

Except that I pity the foo with hairy nips...

I am actually really hairy but it was never a problem. I can't recall the duct tape pulling off any hairs.

Bad quality but funny if you've seen that episode.

I've never run more than a half marathon and haven't had the problem myself. I wear light poly shirts when I run and sweat a ridiculous amount, so I guess I'm well lubricated or just haven't run far enough to encounter it.

I use body glide on my inner thighs because I have big legs and they sometimes rub together. Come to think of it, this hasn't been a problem the last few months, bit of leg shrinkage, not enough heavy squatting in CrossFit :(.

lmao. I just watched that episode last night. Hillllarious.
