whats the best way to format this thing
i want to be able to put movies on it
i already have a raid config with a c,d, and an e drive
im thinking of combining the e into the c and d and then put this one on an ide channel
my bios will still boot the os from the raid but how do i get this formatted and recognized?
i run both win2k and 98se although i only care if win2k can see the drive

Bought 2 early 4/23, shipped Monday. Last one bought late 4/23, shipped today even though they sent me an email saying it would be delayed until next Monday. Oh yeah, all three were at $125.

I checked the website, and my order shipped on April 29, I just called the phone number to get my tracking number, and it gives me a UPS weigh bill number. When I type this in as the tracking number, I am getting that the number is not found in the database. I have checked this number many times from dell. Its not on the website yet, but I was just wondering if I should call customer service since it doesn't seem like they are giving me the correct number.

Thanks.

PM or Reply would be great.

If the UPS site can't find it, it just means that the package is still sitting at the Dell loading dock. What they do is print their own waybills, slap them on the packages and ship them all out at once. It doesn't go onto the UPS system until it's scanned by UPS.

actually it'll show up after Dell sends over the "end-of-day" report electronically to them..

ok, i've got a really strange question, anyone else NOT been billed for this yet?

i received mine today and the charge is still "pending" with my credit card company.

Does this mean i got the drive for free?

zNo, it means you have too much time on your hands to think about such fantasies. Dell bills late sometimes, but they always bill. You will pay, don't worry.

got this today by ups just now. checked the serial number on WD's site and it says not eligible for warranty :-(. the back of my invoice (printed in blue ink) says that purchases from dell spare parts and accessories division are eligible only for a limited 90 day warranty. i am now confused as to whether i get 90 day warranty or 1 year warranty.
also, i made this purchase with amex blue. so will amex blue automatically extend my warranty by 1 year even if the manufacturer (dell) provided only a 90 day warranty. any info would be much appreciated. thanks.

MOD
(Why is my incremental counter stuck at 56? It has been on 56 for the last several posts?)

Just installed the WD120JB and it is way too big...I could never fill this ('till June, anyway).

Got the first @ Total Price $142.10 on Thursday April 25th

and the second (today!) @ Total Price $125.20 Wednesday May 1st!

I also picked up the Shuttle AK35GTR w/Raid for $88.00 on Newegg! Does anyone have any tips on running these two drives striped RAID as my primary partition? Should I not run it as my primary? I can't make up my mind.

No kidding.. I planned to sell a couple as well, but not all at once and I didn't plan on flooding Ebay. There are a couple Ebayers that are single handidly ruining it for everyone else. I don't know if they are Anandtecher's or not, but If I run into someone with the Ebay username juliendeng or trinydex, they'd better watch out.

I'll probably cancel my auction early and wait for the dinks to blow their wad. Hopefully they didn't buy more than 20+.
