Woohoo, got mine, and it's a WD1200JB!

I'd complain that I paid "too much" ($142), but what the hell, $142 is a kick a$$ deal! Anybody wanna buy a fresh from the factory replacement IBM 75GXP 30GB (only makes scraping noises every week or so) 😉

jalapenonc, this was the best first post I've ever seen 🙂

I just recieved my WD1200JB but how do I check the warranty coverage of this HDD on DELL's website? Is there a way to put in your S/N of your product and get that warranty information?

*sigh*, after 4 days my drive is still "in transit". No tracking #. Seriously, why would anyone order from Dell if not for some insanely hot deal?

I didn't get mine until today, and I didn't get a tracking number on Dell's site until today. So their order system is a little screwy. As long as it says "IN TRANSIT" it's on its way.

JB for me too... I can't wait to fill this bad boy up...

Where are these drives being sent from? I sort of assumed Texas, and I only live 2 states away. It it UPS or some cut-rate carrier?

<< is anyone getting the full 120GB?? im only getting 111 under windows 2000. it says 114440 MB which equals 111 GB

Thanks
>>

Uhhh, have you ever formatted a hard drive before?
120gb is raw, unformatted capacity. The formattin' reduces the available size.

after sitting "in production" for three and a half days, it's now "in transit to local carrier"!!

patiently i waited, oh yes, patiently my preciousss... didn't call those nasssty hobbitses at dell to complain like a good gollum, and sssoon you'll be mine, oh yess all mine... my preciousssss.....

Edit: can't spell. shows just how good of an edjamacation ah'm gettin

Interesting. I have two accounts with these drives on order, and in each account they shipped precisely half of my total order. Is this compromising the dell way?

Not to pick on you specifically, but it's been official for a while now. Like I said from the start, there is only one 120 gig drive with 8mb cache, period.

That's because it's not really 120 gigabytes, but 120,000,000,000 bytes. Divide that by 1024 three times and you get 111 gigabytes. It's a lame "trick" that all hard drive manufacturers pull.

OMG.. I already got mine for $122 shipped yesterday($122 cuz of PM).. but I had ordered 2 more when they had them for $125 and not expecting them to come...

BUT.... I just checked the Dell web site and found out that one of the ones I got for $125 is "IN TRANSIT"!!!!

Now the dilemma.. what to do with it? Sigh.. I only wanted one really.. but couldn't pass up on that deal. 🙁

Date of Purchase: 04/23/2002
Estimated Ship Date: 04/29/2002

Since they haven't changed my ESD yet do you think I might still have a chance at getting the drive shipped by 04/29? Probably not huh 🙁
sigh... I was really looking forward to adding more space to my system and bringing my 30gig home to this machine.. Has a whopping
2gb drive. 😱 Try to download stuff on this computer.. it's nearly impossible to keep it from filling up.

Edited: Stupid HTML cut 'n paste =/

Just to shed some light on the $125 doubtful drives... I just checked my status and it shows "in transit". Pretty good chance it will come. This is not the $142 - PM = $122 drive. Im talking about the one that was actually $125 for a limited time. 🙂

PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ME I CAN STILL GET ONE!

I've looked EVERYWHERE, and i leave my comp for 2 weeks and i miss this thing.

Is there anyway Dell will be offering this again?!
