Blam, just got the reservation. Oktoberfest, Munich. 2009

I faxed in my reservation to the Hofbrau Tent in Munich, Germany a week ago and finally received my mailed reservation confirmation for me and five friends.

We'll be leaving the good ol' US of A to travel to Germany for the largest beer drinking festival on earth. Our reservation is for one of the most popular of the fourteen tents, each tent can holds up to 10,000 people. There's no fucking around.

I've been preparing for this my whole college life.

Link to the event.

OKTOBERFEST GIRLS!

10,000 people. I wasn't kidding...

Has anyone else been? Anyone been to Munich at all? We're staying outside Munich and camping for a few euro in one of the stadiums instead of getting a hostile or hotel. My buddy says its way more fun that way, kind of like a big palooza.

gj. ive seen the pictures. if you dont have a tent reservation seems like youd be screwed

Three Sheets did a showcase segment on it and they got in just because they had a camera to one tent but another tent wouldn't let them in. I don't think you'd be screwed though. There are so many people at the event and I'm sure they sell beer on the streets.

Interesting fact I got off of Three Sheets - 30% of everything that each beer vendor at Oktoberfest sells in a year is consumed in just those two short weeks.

If the Hofbrauhaus still has the same table they did in 1995, my initials are carved into it courtesy of senior skip day 😛

screwed as in not have a set place to sit down.

how do they handle the pissing situation also? hopefully a mega giant trough. i went to a few beer fests (including great american bf) and my bladder almost blew a few times

Make sure you rep the USA good over there and WIN any and all drinking contests!

Damn I had fun there. The waitresses there have some strong arms hefting the liter mugs around like its nothing.

I don't remember sleeping much.

that's what he was shooting for. 😛

Nah I was actually shooting for getting more info from people, thats why I subbed it beer drinkers and travelers. Looks like I'm getting some great responses from people that have experienced it. Thanks guys.

oh yeah carry a business card or paper with name and address and phone number of your hotel in case you aren't coherent enough to speak ineligible English to Germans after a long day in the tent.

It's a total blast but wall to wall people. I still remember walking into the men's room and having to pay a woman so I could uh, "drop the kids off at the pool". I'd never seen a female employee in a men's room before.

Holy crap - just realized it has been 24 years since I went to Oktoberfest. I am sure you will have much more fun than I did, as I was a junior in high school, and more importantly, with the parental units and trying not to let on that I drank much. Although, it was pretty damn entertaining sober - both for the scenery and the other drunken fools. Tip one (or two) up for me - prost!

That was just some homeless woman trying to get free money and free looks.
