I think Eminem's the opposte of a sellout. He got big, he started his own record company, and the first people he signed was his old detroit buddies D12, just like he promsied. He got rich by making controversial records, and he still does. Sure he's gone on MTV more then his fair shair, but until I hear him rapping about money jewels boats and houses then he'll be as "real" as he was when he first started.Originally posted by: monotony
Some people are of the opinion that if you sell a lot of records, you sold out. I have no idea why... look at his content. He hasn't even remotely sold out. He plays is cards exactly right. 1-2 commercial friendly songs an album, real content on the rest of the album. IMO it is difficult to be a fan of rap and not a fan of Em. I'm sure there are a bunch out there... but it's difficult to argue w/ 20 million albums and counting.
