I'm sure there are a bunch out there... but it's difficult to argue w/ 20 million albums and counting.
I think Eminem's the opposte of a sellout. He got big, he started his own record company, and the first people he signed was his old detroit buddies D12, just like he promsied. He got rich by making controversial records, and he still does. Sure he's gone on MTV more then his fair shair, but until I hear him rapping about money jewels boats and houses then he'll be as "real" as he was when he first started.

i'm just half-assed about putting forth the effort to make a serious debate.

go ahead, make a a serious debate on why whatever you listen to is better than rap.

maybe tomorrow.

tonight i have an essay to write on... something controversial.

i forget the topic.

shoot.. i need to do that damn paper.

I think the board is still waiting for you to make that argument... I mean hopefully you finsihed "your paper". I'm sure that was just a way to cope out, just like a little b1tch.

Because it's talentless drivel. Anyone can fire up their Electronic keyboard, push a button to make a beat, and talk. How freaking hard is that? If any of them played their own instruments, and rapped about anything other than killin', chillin' and hoes (yes, garden utensils), then I would give them some credit. But, until then.....

I can think of a dozen rappers off the top of my head that don't rap about that stuff. Shall I list them, or would you prefer to remain in your ignorant stupor?

Like all businessmen, im sure Eminem doesn't care who likes him or doesn't, as long as his sales are up. If they slump he will adjust his remarks accordingly.

as much as I agree with you, I also must say that there is a grain of truth to it. On the other hand, I can take any genre out there and make the same generalizations about it, such as you are doing to rap. I think it basically comes down to people saying rap sucks based on their limited MTV knowledge of it, against people who know rap and are trying to defend the positive side of it. Fact of the matter is, there are definitely two sides of the argument, it's just that no one here knows how to argue against rap. All anyone says is "rap sucks" then goes off to masturbate in some secluded corner.

I put my arguement forward, "talentless drivel". I didn't say I hated it, but I'd rather have my eyeballs ripped out with fish hooks, than listen to it for more than ten minutes. yo.

What's funny is that the dude who started SOURCE magazine was on the radio today, and was blasting Eminem for making that "racist" song a few years back.

Then he goes on to say that Michael Jackson is only being prosecuted "Because he's black." Kobe is only getting prosecuted "because he's black." Then he started ranting about all white people being racist and stuff. Uhh, guess what, smart guy. Stereotyping whites and putting them down makes YOU racist.

Obviously after he hung up the DJ's had many laughs at his expense, and a bunch of black people called in saying that guy was full of himself and full of crap to boot.

and how is this any different than .. say .. rock ..

Rock is talentless drivel. Anyone can fire up their Electronic guitar, learn 3 chords (that everyone and their mama knows), and scream. How freaking hard is that? If any of them learned their own instruments, and screamed about anything other than losing a gf, GOD , then I would give them some credit. But, until then.....

geez .. i never knew ALL ROCK sucked ass?

You have obviously never been to a Rush concert. Your post assumes I'm a metal-head, sorry hotshot, don't care for it myself. Nice try though. BTW, Rush isn't heavy metal, so don't go there.

yes i did finish my paper, and no it wasnt a cop-out, you ass-fvck. i got 100% on the presentation in class today, too.

fine, i'll make a full, long, and complete debate about why RAP = cRAP. the problem then is that the first assclown who comes into the thread will post "cliffnotes?", and wont actually read the damn thread.

Expect it posted under the title "Continuing the flamewar: Why RAP = cRAP" by 9:00 AM tomorrow morning, PST.

There is good and bad in every genre. I'd advise you to avoid arguing about something you know nothing about.

People actually like him for his music? His music is pure bullsh!t. Seriously, if people like his gay, women, everyone bashing plus rapping about driving his pregnant girlfriend stuffed in the trunk into the river needs to reassess their taste. I hate him with a passion for his music. And when I see white people trying to act ghetto black, I think "DUMBASS!"

Let me guess, you're going to say his music is good because he speaks his mind? A lot of people speak their minds, such as the KKK, neo-nazis, and ffmcobalt (hi!) - but obviously, their opinions aren't worth much nor is their message something to admire.

MM is just like any other rapper, he has those who like him and those who don't. Hell I know a few brothers who don't like 50 cent even a lil bit. Its just the way it is. I like MM. I think right now he's one of the top 3 or 4 out there.

i hate 50 cent... and i'm one of the biggest rap junkies you'll find. If you go to epinions, where they really review rap, you'll see people like Obie Trice and 50 Cent getting the reviews that their crap CD's deserve, while they praise the real good lyricists out there like Canibus Nas the Roots Dilated Peoples etc.

Also, I don't think rap today qualifies as gangsta rap anymore either. The Gangster-rap era ended when the original deathrow blew up after the 2pac/biggie murders. This era can appropriately be called the bling-bling era or the cash/money etc. era.

Hell i think OutKast played that night as well. Great show.
