While I don't have an issue with Blackberry or the Storm, those first two quotes, out of context, don't really fit your argument. They're referring to a standard Blackberry, like a Tour or a Bold, in the first statement, not the Storm - and the second statement is about the virtual keyboard - which the Storm hasn't exactly gotten rave reviews on either.

The lack of a password is an issue with corporate environments, no doubt about that, but Android i working its way there - last year it didn't even do Exchange.

I don't really know what they're talking about with a lack of apps - there are a lot of useful apps, you just have to find them around the star gazing ones. In fact, there's an app that addresses their big issue - the keyboard.

At any rate, while I don't agree that Blackberry is going anywhere, this little lash-out against Android, out of context, was misplaced and misleading.

Well I guess you missed the point of my post. These are not my words. They are ALL from the Boy Genius Report review of the Droid, one of the great exponents of the Driod prior to release and are meant to show how easy it is to shoot ANY phone down with weasel words. The point isn't supposed to 'defend' Storm 1 or 2, I'm not going to do that for those who are never going to give it the time of day just because one web site doesn't render like a desktop machine. However, while others put words in MY mouth, I only quote industry pundits and it is certainly not out of context based upon the trolling/flamebait aimed squarely in my direction.

As for typing I would suggest you try the Storm2 for typing for a week as it IS probably the best touch screen typing experience out there. But don't take my word for it, live with it for a month. Unless you want a browser that will run ACID3 perfectly all day, but I bet even the iPhone can't do that, but surely 30 posters will run in here, defending it, going on about how amazing it is even though it also has failings.

Yeah, BGR's conclusion on the Droid:

Christ, DBZ, did you cherry pick much from the review or what?

Are you joking? Here is the rest of YOUR cherry picked quote that comes right after you stopped copy/pasting:

"That’s not to say it’s for everyone. It isn’t the most consumer-friendly device off the bat and it’s going to take some time and a whole bunch of improvements before we think Android can totally compete in the consumer space like others can, but Android is getting there slowly and this device in general couldn’t be a better way to show it off."

Nice self ownage, Moose!

What exactly is ambiguous about what they wrote in the conclusion?

So, what’s the wrap up, you’re asking right? We absolutely love the Motorola DROID. It’s a perfect storm between awesome hardware, great software, and a great network.
What you quoted is their musings and comparing it to the iPhone and grandmothers using the Droid.

I'll post it again for you:

We absolutely love the Motorola DROID.

There’s obviously some compromises like a pretty flat QWERTY keyboard and a little heft from the inclusion of metal as a design element, but the pros easily outweigh any cons if you’re on Verizon. And even if you’re not, it’s the most compelling alternative to the iPhone we’ve ever used. What’s important is that this phone exists and can easily fill a big void. It bridges a big gap and will be Verizon’s star device for the rest of the fourth quarter. Probably.

Brighthand:

All in all, the Droid is a truly outstanding smartphone, certainly the best one released this fall.

dbz, if i type a lot, should i look at a bb with a physical keyboard or does the storm2 have a equally good typing interface i.e. no lag, slowing down etc? what about the storm?

Nobody will suggest a touch screen device, Haj, if you really need to type a lot. If that is your need I would suggest the 9700 Bold. It's probably the best full QWERTY BB you can get right now.

If you want to type plenty on a touch screen, then you have to go Storm2. It has eliminated the 'return delay' from Storm 1, whereby you had to wait for the physical button to return before you hit another key. The Storm2 doesn't move as the clicks, in and out, are electronic, even though you'll swear it moved. Also the screen on S2 supports muti-touch for shifting and special chars, making these inputs much faster and more 'keyboard like'.
