I had no idea, but if they can pull this off they'll be my new heroes :^) Half-Life was one of the greatest pc games ever, and I'd love to replay it with updated graphics.

Seriously by the time it's finished the whole Half-Life craze will have worn off and no one will bite.

- they are rivaling Valve in how long it takes

when ? ... 2010?

IF we're lucky?

It's an admirable effort, but honestly the pace and lack of a projected release date makes it very intangible.

I prefer not to know when it's "supposed" to be released and patiently wait, rather than being told even an approximate release date and impatiently wait.

The whole point of this project was to put Half Life 1 on a modern engine. Well by the time this comes out the Source engine will literally be more outdated than the HL1 engine was when they started this project. I also doubt they will even include the latest Source engine improvements in their build.

Why not, let's start speculating and judge the mod before we play it.

i'd rather completely *ignore it* and then be blown-away IF it ever sees completion. it has only happened *once* before for me - they made a great very polished mod for Thief 2 [- a multi-level mature expansion -TX, the Metal Age] after announcing it and then working on it for 5 or 6 years.
-- i forgot all about it and was totally amazed that it was actually better than Thief 2
:Q

i say 'surprise me' ... quit teasing me with screenshots, "maybes" and trailers :p
- *most* ambitious expansions and make-overs are never completed ... BM:S is still looking to have people help them finish it.
:brokenheart:

I've been excited about since way back when *I* wanted to do the project and heard a team already was (like what, 3 years ago?). I'm super hyped/excited, but it's taking them a damn long time.

If they can fix the end game boss battle they will be my new heroes. That battle in the original was complete crap.

Didn't Valve release HL:Source? Think they ported the game over to the Source engine. Not sure how it compares though.

It looks like the orig HL 1 just in the source engine.

Even if Source is antiquated by the time this comes out, it'll still be much newer than the original engine. I'll definitely give it a play, even if it's 5 years from now.

well the Source engine will feel and look comparatively worse in 2010 or so than the HL1 engine did when Half Life 2 came out.

I was a HUGE fan of this mod.Although, instead of finishing up an area and moving on, they are re-doing entire areas.Seriously this will be awesome if it is ever released, but by the time they re-do areas twice, hl3 will be out.
Seems they are taking DNF development style and applying it to this mod :(
