Black man found decapitated after texting "being chased by white men in pickup trucks".

Why isn't this story getting national attention? Rasheem Carter sent last text message to his mother he was fearing for his life.

Mississippi police say there is no evidence of foul play when this is the remains of Rasheed.

Mississippi police claiming nothing suspicious about a black man being decapitated sounds like a line from any movie with Mississippi in the title. It won't turn out good for black people.

Why isn't this story getting national attention? It seems just as compelling as the U of Idaho students who were murdered. Why isn't the media covering it?

A Black man was ‘decapitated’ after saying he was being chased by white men. Why do police say no foul play? (msn.com)

Just...wow.

So Mississippi Sheriffs are just KKK with badges, or what?
How could you possibly determine no foul play with how the body was discovered? I seriously hope the FBI gets involved and shreds the Smith County Sheriff’s office so-called "findings." Unbelievable.

Is the cut on the top of a skull done by the coroner?
As for severing the head, the body spent a month in the woods. The police probably assume animals got to it. How else would it be picked clean?

But anyone who winds up dead after saying men are chasing him, is not natural causes by any means. Especially not dumped in the woods.
Problem is, how can justice possibly be served in a case with these circumstances?

There's just not anything all that odd about one of them thar blacks gettin himself dedded by white folk in Mississippi...the only "odd" part of this...beyond the fact that it was reported at all...is the " decapitated" part. Them good old boys should know better than to drop a man 20' when lynchin him...the head jest pops right off!

How the hell can they not label this as a homicide? I'm not necessarily appalled at them not being able to charge someone or have information on the investigation to release to the public, but regardless of what may have happened it's transparently obvious it wasn't natural. Saying "at this time, we have no reason to believe foul play was involved" is just a gigantic middle finger to the community.

Think there's some clarity that should be provided here. I'm not in any way defending any sort of police cover up but human remains being scattered by wild animals is not in any way uncommon and depending on the amount of time can be scattered across wide areas. "Dismemberment" post mortem is expected, not irregular, in those circumstances. (look up Timothy Treadwell if you want a detailed description).

The texts are suspect for sure but I'm curious what actual signs there are on the body? Was their a history of mental health issues? Was the skull damage done by a coroner or is that as found?

Are these people fucking stupid?
Do they honestly think they can just sweep this under the rug? Do they not know what year it is? Have they not seen all the criminal and civil suits being brought to court against racist police precincts?

I assumed the skull was found in that condition, I can't see why the family/lawyer would be showing photos of post-autopsy and examination.
Despite there being the very slim possibility of the body having been dismembered and scattered by animals (what animals? Bears? Raccoons surely aren't going to do this), you need to consider not only how the body was found, but where it was found.

I don't believe for one instant that he wandered into some local woods to kill himself. Possible? Sure. But when you look at all the currently available info (which is still scant), it becomes fairly obvious there was foul play, and this was indeed a homicide.

Again...the FBI needs to step in and stop the playing at ignorance by the local KKK with badges.

No evidence top of skull was removed by a coroner. Even if it was would that same corornor then dispose of the skull in a way it would be found in the woods?

This is what I don't get. Finding Rasheed's remains in this condition should assume foul play and investigate until an explanation found.

I still want to know why no national media attention.

Don't confuse decapitation (head separated from body) with the removal of the skull cap. The latter was performed by the coroner.

The reason I wasn't sure about that was due to the break line of the cap. Would a coroner's saw line not be more even and straight? Unless the coroner was drunk or just being sloppy...that looked more to me like an uneven break than a cut. I'm obviously not a coroner or pathologist though.

Even if it was a coroner how would the skull wind up in the woods?

That might depend on how drunk Billy Bob was when he was operating the saw..
