memory size on a x700 will do next to nothin for your peformance

then why do they charge so much more?

so you are saying that the newegg 128mb is good enough?

anyone else care to chyme in on this?

he is right, the card is too slow to take advantage of the extra mem

True.. but the point is you're still getting an extra 128mb for 20 dollars less. I haven't seen 9800pro benchies in a while but doesn't the extra 128 help in heavily textured games like Doom 3? Performance wise, this card ranks somewhere between a 9800pro and 9800xt. In most benchies it equals the pro and in some it exceeds it. This is basically the best budget AGP card you're gonna find. Honestly I would NOT buy an x800 AGP. WAAYY too much money given that most of the systems that use AGP won't be able to fully utilize this card. My O'Ced 2.4ghz AXP system will suck the X700 pro up nicely until I feel like upgrading to a dual Opteron with full PCI-Express goodness.

LoL!! Doom 3....heavy textures....

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I went to BB and looked at the L25-s1194. It does not have VGA. Not 100% about the BF one, but I'd guess it to be lacking as well.

Yep, BB does open at 5am on friday. (If anyone is around Ames, IA, stop and say hi)

BTW: the BB's in Iowa, with the exception of the Sioux City store, are having separate promotions from the national ad. I believe...i want to say ohio is doing this as well. Its because those two states are the guinea pigs for a new marketing idea that would promote less people in the morning and more people spread out or something...i dunno it was early i didnt catch the whole idea.

Either way if you live in those two states, make sure to check your ads.

Anyone have any intel on the Westinghouse? The newer ones have DVI+HDMI, this one seems to have just DVI. But another thing concerns me greatly - the lack of mention of HDCP compatibility. I don't want to have a goddamned HDTV that isn't going to work come 2008 because Westinghouse didn't put a validation chip in the goddamned TV.

You are looking for every thing free?

I guess it largely depends on what you're looking to buy.

I was looking for a good deal on a Canon digital camera. They have the SD400 for $299 which is regular retail price. Even when you subtract the value of the $35 gift card it's still nothing considering that Costco has it for $269 regular price and most online places have it even cheaper.

Then there's the 1GB SanDisk SD card for $39. It's one of the crappy ones with 1-2MB/s write speed. You can get 1GB SD cards with ~8MB/s write speed for ~$50 occasionally from Buy.com.

Can you get a retail Motorola Razr V3 for $40 online, without a new service plan?

Norm

EDIT: should have kept reading, sorry.

i don't think the x700 agp deal is bad for $100, but if you're going the MIR route I'm sure that there will be some 6600 GTs online with MIR for a little more money than this x700. Of course if you're not using it for gaming (like a htpc) then the x700 will do just fine

I wouldn't buy any of the sh!t with mail-in-rebates especially the ones with >$50.
I'm done with buying stuff with MIR. The last one was the Seagate, and I never got my $50 rebate.

Uh, I just bought the SD450 for $300 at amazon and got $20 off a SD card in the same order.

That gateway widescreen notebook looks nice as a replacement for my moviestation.

Wow, had to make a trip to Walgreens and figured I'd see if there was anyone waiting at BB yet. At least 50 people at 11:00 p.m. I've never shopped a Black Friday before and thought I might check out the hype tomorrow, but now I'm thinking maybe not :)
