that x1600 might be tempting for AGP users but Black Friday is such a mess its probably not worth the savings.

What's black friday. I live in Canada so I don't know these things. Is it like those X-MAS sales?

It is the day after thanksgiving (which falls on thursday) when stores start there big push for Christmas with sales. The "black" comes from the idea that stores' earnings can go from red (loss) to black(profit).

I wonder if its Circuit City's eVGA or XFX 7600GT...And is that price only in-stores/only online and is it after rebate?

In Canada we have Boxing Day (Dec 26) which I understand is the equivalent? We have big sales on that day (well usually it's limited quantity door crashers and retailers giving marginal deals on other goods).

Yeah, I think that's it. I think the boxing day deals are getting scarce lately, though. Places claim huge discounts and then don't really deliver on it.

Boxing day sales are usually set up for tired suckers. Last week before xmas tends to be much better.

folks, these are warm deals at best imho: you're not saving hundereds but you'll have to brave the early morning crowds and the cold weather. but then again, this is up to the individual to decide.

I think the black actually comes from the bruises you get fighting the mob over 10 ultra-cheap items. I think black also refers to the kind of day those who work in retail have.

Man and to think I just bought a 6800xt for my dying AGP rig for 130$... that x1600 would have been sweeter at 30$ less.

I wouldn't even consider shopping on black Friday. The money I would save would never relieve the absolute aggravation of dealing with oceans of rabid consumers that would as soon spit in your face as to tell you the time. Black Friday = No thank you. But that's just me.
