///// UPDATE /////

OK OK, NOW I GOT THE CASE... KINGWIN KT-424 THAT IS

NEED MORE HELP, READ THE LATEST POSTS.

UPDATED WITH PICTURES!!!!!

i did a similar transition (very actually). i went from a raidmax scorpio 868 (mid tower ver) to a coolermaster prae. couldn't be happier

V1000 doesn't have window..

sviking looks nice. but i am not planning on getting a 'door' front.

sick of the door

but really nice case though..

Obligatory mention of the Kingwin 424 series. You also might find something in the Silverstone Temjin line. And I really like the Berserker I just got, but it's not Aluminum - steel cases are inherently quieter anyway...

hmmm the Kingwin is nice too! newEgg doesn't have any stock though.
let's see.. i love the window.. but have a question..

is this one of those slide in drive bay? or just screw in one?

Kingwin has the slide in tray that comes out cards and all. It also has a neat feature in that the front-panel header connectors has another connector in the middle of the cable so that when you have to take the tray out, you don't have to reconnect all those separate pins on your header connector.
. There should be plenty of places besides Newegg that carries the 424 w/window for a similar price (froogle turned up a number of hits including XOxide - which seems to be OOS too). A very nice case - the best value in Al cases, IMO. The same case is also sold under the Beantech brand - SVC carries those but they are also OOS. I guess the word's gotten out - it's a Maximum PC KickAss award product and people here have been talking them up forever.

the thing is, i am trying to avoid slide trays..

reason?
well, my fan controller bay doesn't seem to fit in with the slide trays.

but, kingwin is cheap and nice looking

Oh, you're talking drive bays not mobo trays. You can use its auto locking mechanism or screws for drives or other devices whichever suits.

A cooler master praetorian would work. They are also nice cases

hmm, praetorian seems like it doesn't have a window..
but, it looks still nice

You could always by a windowed side for it. Many sites sell them.

Either that or you can try to find a Coolermaster 201b-bxt. I don't think they make them anymore, but it's pretty much a praetorian, except it has glossy paint and a windowed side. I don't know why, but I've always thought the Coolermaster cases look nicer than Lian Li's.

that makes kingwin a better choice for me...

hmm cheaper than Lian Li..

but i only see 3 case fans.. i kinda wanted 4.

re. fans. Kingwin is made of Al - easy to cut (even though most of it on the Kingwin is 2mm thick!)... 😀 But I think you will find the cooling more than adequate. Check the reviews around the web - on ExtremeTech.com for one.

Worse to worse, Enermax has a couple of relatively new Al models. Check those out too - not a door in the bunch. But they are a bit flimsier than the Kingwin - then again, what other Al case isn't.
