Depends on the meal. For chili, nothing beats buttermilk cornbread in a cast iron skillet cooked in brown butter. Bacon / sausage and eggs or a nice savory stew? Biscuits are a must.

I love naan. That's one of my favorite breads, though I've never made it. That'll be a good fall project; trying some of the breads in that article.
Naan is awesome, as are beer breads and of course Soda breads.

Cornbread. Preferably with bacon and jalapeños in it with honey butter.

Interesting. I love some jalapeño cornbread now and then but I never thought to mix in bacon.

Biscuits are also delicious when I'm in the mood for them.

Which is best depends on what else you're having. Fried chicken or breakfast food = biscuits. Chili = cornbread.

Coarse, salted cornbread (with butter) beats just about everything else.
Couldnt tell the difference between water or butterrmilk, i thought buttermilk just had to be in cornbread, always.

Different ways of cooking them. Buttermilk for it being baked in a skillet. Hot water cornbread you make a batter then fry it, makes for a crunchy outside then cornbready inside.

Cornbread should NOT be sweet enough to be a dessert.

Nice thick piece of it or some cornbread muffins with some honey is a great dessert after a meal is the way to go.

If you really want to get angry about this topic one should ask golden color or blue cornbread? :D

Next thing you know some people would think iced tea is called sweet tea or such nonsense. ;)

Both are great.

Cornbread for greens (turnip & collards), beans, chili, soup, bbq and hushpuppy style with fried fish. :D

Biscuits for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Biscuits and sausage gravy.
