Serious answer is most women (not all) will gain weight using birth control Average weight gain depends on which one. Usually between five pounds (depo) and ten pounds (pill). Aparrently the new low dosage versions don't cause as much wight gain if any.

If she eats more or does not exercise it will. If she does not change her habits it won't.

My girlfriend is having some issues with the pill as well, feeling nasty for about a week before, getting a little bloated especially in the breast area. She is hating it.
Does it normally get better over time or is it pretty consistent in terms of symptoms?

Ortho tri cyclin makes some women gain and some women lose. My gf has maintained her weight while her boobs have slightly increased in size.

Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo and Yasmin seem to be fairly good from what I hear.

Again, each woman is different and the only way to find out which BC is right for her is Trial and Error.

IUD is the bestest option imho... but they will not just give her one. If she is young... like under 25 and has no children, chances are that she will not get one.

Also, if she is able to get one, she should be careful to get one that does not have hormones in it. they are hard to find.

but bottom line is this... she needs to make a choice. i am not trying to be a smartass, I promise. if one of the side effects of reliable birth control is the possibility of weight gain, then she will have to work harder at keeping the weight off.

again, i promise that i am not trying to be a smartass, but it is a choice. reliable birth control and running up and down a flight over stairs five times extra a week, or taking a chance of less reliability for the convenience of not having to work harder.

nothing in life is easy unfortunately. :(

My wife gained weight when she went on the pill too, and quite a bit. She went from about 115 to 140 (which is still a perfectly fine weight mind you). :)

part of that might be too b/c prior to that her mom was cooking a lot better meals than we end up eating now, since we're both working full time and the same hours and quite busy we just don't seem to have time to eat as well balanced of a diet as perhaps we should be.

IUD

its a toss up if the doctor will give her one because some are really against giving it to young, unmarried women.

God, kids keep getting dumber every year! WTF would you insist she take hormones, especially if she doesn't want to? WTF take the chance on leaving her in charge of birth control? If you're too stupid or selfish to think of any other way to take care of this, maybe you ought do the world a favor, and leave it in your pants!

Then you have no worries.

Why do you yourself not take hormones to protect the both of you.

Once you are legal, then you can have another talk.

If needed, get a bigger pair of pants, or an ice makere that you can leave in the bathroom when needed.

Do what everybody else around here does, sit in your den and d/load Jessica Alba pics, no need for BC then:)
