It is a KoTOR MMO.

Well, fuck.

How does Star Wars: The Old Republic relate to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?

Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place approximately three hundred years after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). At the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War in KOTOR, Revan disappeared into unknown space in search of a great threat to the Republic, an expanding Sith Empire led by a mysterious Emperor who planned vengeance for his ancient Jedi enemies. Revan never returned from unknown space, but the Sith Empire did, kicking off a war with the Republic that lasted for decades. Now, despite the uneasy truce created by the Treaty of Coruscant, the tension among the divided star systems is threatening to once again tear the galaxy apart.

Here is the game website as well. This actually looks like it could be cool; however, since I hear that force unleashed blows and I am still waiting on some sort of resolution from KOTOR2 I think that this will probably suck. I really enjoyed the KOTOR's (except for the sudden conclusion of the second) and was very much hoping for a third one to not only continue the story but also because it was an all around fun game.

We will have to see on this.

That's the very sad part ,I just wish they kept it a single player RPG like the others.

Only time will tell how well it does,on the plus side I know a lot of ex SWG players are looking for a new home :).

The people in the SW universe must breed like rabbits and construct ships with TA style nano-lathing.

Great, this is exactly what I didn't want. The KOTOR singleplayer games were awesome.

Well, I can hope that they'll make a great MMO for me to play, but this means no more KOTOR games :(

Wait, I thought Lucasarts said that they wouldn't be releasing Star Wars games on PC anymore? Even if this is a Bioware game, Lucasarts still owns the title. Oh well :p

It is set 300 years after the original KotOR, you can still have a single player KotOR3. Bioware (actually their owners) opened up a new studio to develop the KotOR MMORPG, so Bioware's resources were not compromised on it. They are focusing on their own IP for single player, ATM though (see Dragon Age).

Wow, way to destroy a fantastic franchise Bioware. I don't want some crappy MMO- I want an epic single player storyline set in an involving universe like the last two, why try to fix what aint broke? This begs of 'we want a slice of Blizzards cash cow'.

^ not happy....

Well duh, look who owns them now. What publisher wouldn't be salivating at the WoW profits?

What does The Force Unleashed have to do with this? Explain yourself.

Whats with all the crying? FUCKING BIOWARE IS MAKING THIS GAME!!!

I would be hesitant if any other company were making this as an MMO, but Bioware has proved themselves time and time again. This MMO is going to be awesome.

The problem is when was the last decent Star Wars game?

Kotor 1 was the last one I can remember in 2003.

And KOTOR was the last one Bioware had anything to do with. Don't blame the license, blame the companies actually making the game. With KOTOR and Mass Effect both fan-fucking-tastic in my book I'm pretty excited to see how this comes out.

Because they are owned by EA now. Because the EA greed will affect them. Because their last few games were among the shortest games out there.

I wonder how many activations will get with SWTOR?

Well, this was the excuse I was waiting for.
I always said if they bomb KOTOR 3 or they get Bioware to make a Star Wars MMO I would get out of PC Gaming.

There is absolutely nothing left for me to look forward to.

Shame because I just got a Radeon 4870. Guess I'll have to finally go back and finish Crysis. Once thats done I'm out. It will be web-based Tower games from now on.

WAIT! I take it back. We still have Deus Ex 3. And there is the slight possibility it may not suck.

Bioware didn't actually develop kotor2 if I'm remembering correctly. Of course I've slept (severel times) since then, so I could be remembering wrong.
