I suppose the gameplay in BS1 is average if you are running around with a wrench the whole time. There were unique things to do with the plasmids, traps, etc. Luckily your lack of creativity didn't stop us from enjoying gameplay that was well above average.

I've played the original 4 or 5 times already, but they shit GfWL all over the sequel so I'm gonna have to pass on it for a while. I know they won't patch it out, but I refuse to pay full price for something so crippled.

Agreed. GfWL is Pretty damned frustrating.

Painman mentioned that it's pretty minimal, though. I guess I'll find out when I go home in a few hours.

I loved Bioshock, I would give it a 92.

I can't bring myself to spend $50 for a new game though, when I have so many awesome cheap games I just bought, so I won't be picking this up for a while. Maybe once I can find it for $30 or lower.

Come on KT you need to play some real games ;) ,I'll wait until Bioshock 2 is bargain bin price before buying it,I reserve my opinion until then on B2.

I agree Bioshock 1 was well overhyped,if some AT members here enjoyed it then fair play to them, they got their money's worth out of the game,I wish I waited until it was bargain bin price( Rule 1 never go by hyped reviews).

I absolutely loved Bioshock. I picked it up from Steam for 9.99 right after I bought my 4850. I had a great experience with it. I haven't played it again, but I rarely do that with games anyway.

I'll pick this one up in a few months when it's $29.99 or lower, but not out of disrespect or not wanting it now; it's just that I have a HUGE backlog of games that I need to get through first.

Im on the same boat. I have quite a few games to play. I barely started FO 3, I checked out Borderlands and its seems pretty interesting, L4D 2 hasnt had much of my time either. And now Call of Pripyat is out....to much too keep up with. :awe:

downloading it now. just for the ambience. the first one just really took me to this other world which not many games do. playing lights out, sound loud, it was a trip.

while i usually stick to bf type games, bioshock had the ability to take me to antoher place where i would jump out of my seat. why not give it another go.

Just got the game today...had a lot of fun with it til it locked my computer up at the part of the flood gate once that crazy Big Girl or whatever breaks the glass and floods that room.

Thinking the EXE had crashed or what not I try to open task manager...no go...Bioshock 2 had literally LOCKED my computer up, only way of fixing it was to hit that awesome reset button on my computer case...nice programming there 2K Games!

Now when I tried to restart the game I get either an error saying the ".exe not responding" OR better yet I get an error saying that the DVD cant be authenticated...amazing...

Is this one of those "Its just you" kinda things? Anyone else having the need for an immediate patching?

I played it, really good...feels like a different game almost playing with as the Big Daddy...however, the game locked my PC up requiring a hard reset and now the game wont start at all...so far good game, despite the horrid compatibility...and Im the kind of person that NEVER has problems with games...buggy or not, so Im sure Im not the only one. Get it definitely, but wait for a patch of some kind.

It stinks (IMO).

Graphics are dated. Shooting elements are not done well. Ambience that was original in Bioshock 1 is now blah. Story is not engaging (IMO). Multiplayer is horrifically laggy (on a FIOS 50Mbps connection)

5/10 . . . maybe.

Wish I could gift/sell it, but already registered the key. Only thing I hate about steam.

That is all.

EDIT:

Guess I should clarify that I'm playing the PC version, but that is probably obvious in view of the thread location.

The original got a high score and this one seems to be getting high scores as well but I thought the first was overrated.

There's no reason to take ANY score from ANY reviewers seriously anymore.

To quote Seinfeld: "Fruit's a gamble. I know that going in."

You can pretty much a say the same about games anymore.

It wasn't a horrible game at all but not as good as they said it was.

I played it for awhile this evening. Definitely doesn't have the same awe factor as the original simply because the world isn't new anymore. But I still love the setting. And its fun so far. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet (probably won't for awhile), but so far so good.

I thought Bioshock was pretty good. Interesting story and atmosphere. Not the most memorable or replayable game, but pretty good.

After I finish Dragon Age, I'll get Call of Pripyat, then it will be a toss up between BS2 and ME2 (wasn't terribly impressed with ME1, decent, but not up to Bioware's standard, IMO).

I found ME1 very unimpressive...ME2 however is a game that MUST be played, period. I would choose ME2 over BS2 ANY DAY...

We posted some gameplay video on our website (see sig). So far I am on the fence about it. Need a little more time with it.

The graphics are pretty good but not that great. For example if you hit stuff to break it, it's not very natural how they shatter. I would be surprised if they made any graphical improvements over Bioshock 1. I am running a pretty high end graphics card too.

So far the game is a lot of fun but it's very scary and that's not really a con for most but it is for me. When the Splicers attack, they rush you and it's very disorienting!

Bioshock simply was not worth the 96% it received on Metacritic. That's a bullshit score for that game. This is not a matter of opinion, this is a fact. Everyone knows this. It cannot be denied.

It can and has been denied. And I'll deny it again if you want. Bioshock was the second best game I've ever played. 96% seems about right. I take it your didn't like the game():) is that a fact, or just an opinion?
