Because they weren't quick thinking enough to stuff a rocket up his ass and send him to the moon Roadrunner style...

LOL, or strap him onto a cruise missle and send him to Libiya.

At least he is finally gone, so who cares if they dumped him in 30,000 feet of water? Problem solved and Amen to that!!

Maybe I am just conspiracy minded, but I have to wonder whether he was killed on Sunday, or if he was really killed several years ago. Nobody has seen him since about 2001 and the audio/video tapes of him which surfaced have left a lot of people with the impression they were fake. I have no way of knowing one way or the other, I just wonder about it at times.
The easy explanation is usually the right explanation. Some famous scientist said this.

Abother famous scientist said, that; Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

Actually, I've never heard of that book. I have had this sort of strategy in mind for years (mostly to be used against Palestinians who attend funerals for suicide bombers).

Well it's nothing new used over 100 years ago by USA and throughout the middle east for all time. If you can find them with good search in doc form read Jungle Patrol & Swish of the Kris both excellent reads.

Well, they had to choose between inciting the enemy or appeasing conspiracy nuts and out for vengeance type simple folk. One of them makes the military's job easier, and since I'm in the military I personally like that option.

Killing him obviously didn't do that. Some PR BS about how we handled the body makes all the difference. 22 killed or captured? No problem cause we paid our respects. :whiste:

We had our reasons for killing him. The reasons for going out of our way to incite them further are much weaker.

*scratches head

I may still be in shock after hearing how people think it'll matter, but whatever. While I think it may be a waste of time and effort I won't object further.

Yeah, Bush had him killed, decided to wait til Obama won the election and gave it to him as a congratulations present for use whenever he felt appropriate.

I'm sure they have evidence of his identity and death. I think cremation would have been the best option. The pandering to muslim sensitivities was the weakest part of the speech and it wasn't really consistent. If Osama wasn't a true Muslim, why give him a Muslim burial? With that said I like the idea of him being dumped overseas like a piece of garbage.

They'd be like the TSA or Homeland security.

WE are the people that watch other people to see if they are terrorists.

Perhaps we could show Christian and Jewish people in this country the same respect. I don't understand why the only religion the left seems to worry about respecting is Islam.

But, a shrine could prove to be a treasure trove for intelligence gatherers who could investigate anyone who comes to visit.
Lefties would have decried it as harassment. It would be profiling unless we staked out some Christian and Jewish burial sites too. Actually, it would still be profiling because Islam has special privileges. We just flat out couldn't do it.

Should have stuck his corpse at the bottom of a porta potty placed at ground zero.

Im not buying the burial at sea bit. I highly doubt they did that. Im sure they kept the body for whatever reason. I mean i know our Government is full on retarded, but youd think they would learn by now that people are not just going to buy into "we dumped his body at sea" without video or photographic proof. This isnt the 1800s were people just read something in a newspaper and took it as truth. This whole story is fishy.

I would have flown the body back to New York City, to show the people of New York. People deserve closure!

The only ones who do not have "closure" are the conspiracy theorists.

The fucker is dead. The how/when are practically irrelevant.

The administration is currently debating over releasing the photos used to identify Osama, and the video of his burial. I have a feeling that even if they do it will be nothing but "Fake/Photoshop" from those that wouldn't be satiated with any amount of proof anyway.

1: who cares, what would have been better? keeping it around as a souvenir?

2: even enemies can show some respect, even when they don't deserve it. (maybe some of the less fanatic can learn that too)

3: IceBergSLiM has a very good point

4: Dave has a very bad point

5: 1: is a very good point, why does it matter where he is buried?

I think it was a brilliant solution to a potentially vexing problem. If he was to be buried somewhere, pity the host country being a magnet for all those wackos for centuries. Given the hysteria in Congress about Gitmo trials in the USA, can you imagine them not going hyper over burying him in the US? What other country that is allied with us would be so stupid as to want the burden of his grave/memorial? And since the burial was arguably within Muslim traditions it is a complete and very elegant solution.

It is common practice for the Palins of this world (and website) to constantly dump on government as incompetent but this decision shows there are some very, very smart people in our government-and a leader willing to listen to them.
