I've often thought if I had that much money, I would just quit working and go around having one hell of a good time.
$58 billion is about $1 billion a year for the rest of my life. That's uh.. what... $3 million a day to blow EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?
So let's think... monday I'd wake up, buy a lamborghini. Drive it around, take it to the beach... "accidentally" drive it into the ocean and watch it sink. Laugh a little, have some mixed drinks. Or maybe I'd just drive it onto some college campus and hand the keys to some CS major. Drink some beers. Monday night maybe go to a nice restaurant, pick up the tab for everyone. Go out to a club. Call it Flot night, buy everone drinks all night long. Close the place out. End the day with $2,500,000 in your pocket.
Tuesday, plan a party for the weekend. Rent out a block at some fun city for saturday night. Fly in friends from other places to join in the event. Put down some deposits on stuff, maybe head to the beach, buy a boat for the day. Make friends, give the boat to someone else to park when you're done. Let them have the keys, you can buy another one tomorrow.
Wednesday... Hmm... car.. boat... I guess a plane wouldn't be out of the question, but I'm not really the flying type. Maybe just hang out, don't do anything. You know, unwind by the pool. In the bahamas.
Thursday go get some clothes to wear to your party that weekend. Don't forget accessories - watch, shoes, car - you know, the usual.
Friday, go do something nice so you won't feel so bad on sunday about all that cash you ran through. Buy laptops for inner city kids. Sponsor a "goofy inventions" contest and help somebody get started. Buy some land and make it a park. Send 150 pizzas to your old high school. Send 1500 pizzas to your least favorite college professor. Pay the bill, but insist they leave them on his lawn.
Saturday - Party, party, party. Pay the tab - one city block for one evening, hmm, what - $800,000 tops?
Sunday - Sleep it off. Repeat until you just can't take it anymore.
The way I see it, you couldn't spend all that money if you tried. But damn, I'd have fun trying.
