Bill Cosby found guilty

I can explain. The previous prosecutor told him that he would not be charged. This then precluded him from taking the 5th in a civil deposition over the same allegation. His testimony in that deposition was then later used against him in a criminal prosecution when a different DA decided to press charges after all.

In effect, he was tricked into waiving his 5th amendment rights in the civil case, and into incriminating himself.

Unfortunately the court was correct here. That prior DA is an idiot and now we have a serial rapist walking free.
It might be the case that the prior DA knew his trickery would get caught eventually but otherwise Cosby was going to walk unpunished because Cosby covered his tracks well, leaving Cosby himself as the only one who can open and close the door to knowledge of what went on.

He might have expected the ruling to be eventually overturn but at Cosby would taste a little jail, and thus the victims could get a little justice for their vigilance and persistence and the "system" gets some money....

He's guilty as fuck... too many women came forward covering his assaults over decades. Lawyers just found a procedural loophole.

It's too bad, because some of his stand-up was funny as hell.

I saw one of the prosecutors being interviewed and she said the idea of an agreement is a complete fabrication. There was no agreement, no matter what that dumbass previous DA said publicly.

The lawyers didn't "find a procedural loophole". The prosecutors ROYALLY fucked up like fucking idiot children.

They shouldn't have passed the bar with that level of idiocy.

So the judge shouldn't have allowed it at trial? Oh... wait... that would be different, huh?

Regardless, it was intentionally done to strip him of his ability to assert his 5th amendment rights:

I may not like the result of this but we must not allow this kind of bullshit to happen.

This is the part I'll never get, if your someone like Cosby, hugley sucessfull with tons of $$ to spend why risk so much by drugging women then raping them?, there are prostitutes that look hot as hell, will do anything including pretending to be drugged if that is what a client want's. $$ out of reach for most men but a guy like Cosby could easily afford any kind of "entertainment" he wanted.

It’s about power and the high one gets from abusing it. It’s why serial killers exist.

I was perfectly happy with him being jailed for the rest of his life, but at 83, and being partially blind, I don't see him being any kind of threat to society.

The fact that he got away with it "is" the threat to society.
Oh.... to be rich AND privileged. You never see this happening to poor people in prison. What happens there is some poor sap spends 45 years behind bars before some new evidence comes along and sets him free, but only after serving his 45 years that is.....
Just goes to show you that people should never assume celebrities are good people or roll models just because they play the good guy roll on TV or can excel in some sporting event. TV celebrities drug and rape women and celebrity athletes beat their girlfriends. Who wants their kid to grow up like THAT???

Yeah, you do. There have been quite a few exonerations in recent years. Several states and county DA offices have set up 'innocence projects' under various names to review convictions that have been called into question.

Imagine if this wasn’t Bill Cosby and a prosecutor did the same thing - we would all think it was a huge violation.
The original prosecutor ( the one who turned out to be the Orange Terror's defense counsel ) is the one who screwed up. That is the 'deal' people should be angry about. It should be nullified and this sack of crap returned to prison to finish out his time won by the second (decent) prosecutor.

You can’t nullify it though, the cat is out of the bag.

but if Crosby had immunity from being tried criminally from the previous DA, how did the next DA prosecute?
shouldnt Crosby have pulled out his get out of jail immunity agreement from the previous DA and save himself 3yrs in jail?

and why was that previous DA an idiot for making that deal?

I dunno, I bet prosecutors get away with more often than we think. Just got caught this time.

It's all about power and control. Someone doing it willingly, even if they're great at pretending, may not satiate the appetite.
