It is not the speed that kills, it is the "sudden stop" that hurts!

I had a gpz750, 83 year I believe. I maxed it out around 125-130. Just about scared the sh1t out of me, the back tire was dry rotted. I'm glad I got rid of that bike before I killed myself.

Wow that's crazy, if I ever got a bike (which I WON'T even though even though they look cool as hell) I could never go over 80mph I don't think... I've seen that vid of the guy going 180+ past a parked cop and I think that would scare the sh!t out of me. I've heard too many stories from my friend's dad who's had too many close calls going 120+ before.

This brings a fun story to mind. There is a stretch of I10 between here and a neighboring city, about 25 miles away. About 2 in the morning I was coming back doing about 120-125 or so on my CBR900RR. All of a sudden a state trooper pulls up beside me in a 5.0. He points at me and wags his finger as to say "no-no". I start slowing and he punches it and takes off. It had to be the funniest thing I've experienced on a bike :)

No shenanigans called?

If I ever got a bike it would be a super fast japanese crotch rocket that would go 0-200 in 6 seconds.

It would be all bad, I would end up fvcking myself up on the freeway going 250mph.

Let's see, 2 AM, cold as hell, on a bike. Wasn't very interested in traffic at the time, standard lights, didn't think it could be a cop.

175 indicated on my TLR - probably more like 165mph real world speed though. Bike speedos are notoriously optomistic.

but 2AM, doing 120, and car catching up to you is no big deal?

140 on an older gixxer 750... havnt pushed my 03 r6 past about 75 yet (it was 42F last time i rode it).... but speedo's are always WAY off onsport bikes not to mention centrifical force of the wheels makes the tires expand and what may say 180 on the speedo is prob closer to 168-172....

do a search on any p2p for "ghostrider" and you'll find him on his busa and a few other bikes doing well over 300khm

whats posting it have to do with it?
whats fishy about it is you were doing 120, a car caught up with you and you didn't slow down

then to top it off, it was a cop, who didn't do anything about it

not tryin to be a d!ck about it...it just sounds like BS

Then your a man of limited experience. Cops like cool vehicles and if you are stretching them out in a safe way (late at night with no other traffic) they sometimes just let you go.

I have a very similar story. I was on lop 610 in Houston about 2 AM one night in my 66 Shelby doing about 100 just having a little fun when out of nowhere a cop pulled up right along side of me. He flipped the side spot light on his lightbar on for a second.....motioned to me with his hand to slow it down, then gave me a big thumbs up with a huge grin and took off. I have no idea where he came from because I never noticed. At that kind of speed I tend to look straight ahead....but he was there all of a sudden.

expanding tires will result in a lower indicated speed, smart guy.
