Yes, there is a slight difference between a motorcycle and a moped. But they really are both just motorized bicycles. No need to get your panties in a bunch (one post would have been enough). They are somewhat interchangable words (mopeds are a subset of motorcycles).

I disagree, my 600 pound motorcycle would surly take a hit differently than a <100 pound moped.

That is completely true. But that is meaningless to my point. My point is that all mopeds are motorcycles. Not all motorcycles are mopeds though. So of course your non-moped motorcycle is different from a moped.

It appeared that you were incorrectly arguing semantics. If instead you are arguing weight (an argument in which you would be correct), then please just go out and say that from the beginning.

Yes he did, and Billy Lane was there when it happened.

Billy Lane "Lucky to be Alive"

my ass lucky...he was in a 2006 dodge ram...vs a motorcycle...its like a tank going up against a guy with a broomstick on a bicycle. Of course hes going to creme the guy. Now the guy from the bike going through his winshield maybe could've killed him.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said Lane was trying to pass two other vehicles on A1A when his southbound 2006 Dodge Ram pickup collided with a northbound 1983 Yamaha motorcycle, Florida Today reported.

This is.... freaking freaky, dude.

I am in the midst of buying a 1983 Yamaha motorcycle from this dude in jacksonville.

I really have no reason to buy the bike. I can take the bus (for school) or ride in my beater car (non-school).

But it just freaking freaked me out..... I am about to goto jacksonville tomorrow to buy the bike.

Is this a sign? Should I get the bike?

are you serious you would change your mind over this? *sigh*

I guess this just goes to show that not ALL bikers are more aware of or more apt to watch out for other bikers.

Maybe he nailed the guy cuz he wasn't on one of HIS bikes??

(Yeah, not a nice thing to say I know.....)

Bummer for all involved.

I read that and thought - try asking a Hell's Angel how he likes his moped and you might find out how interchangeable they are.

just goes to shows that riding a motorcycle is suicidal.
Well if that guy had be driving a car or truck instead there'd be 3 fatalities instead of 1.

I'm interested in seeing what the blood test shows as Billy Lane is well known for his "Partying" ways.

I hope he wasn't intoxicated.

How come charges aren't filed? He went into oncoming traffic to pass cars right? It looks to be a two lane highway (one in each direction).

Probably because the severity of the charges could change if he is determined to have been intoxicated at the time, and they don't have the results of the blood tests yet. Not something I ever want to know about first-hand.

The way I read the article, whether or not he is charged (period) is based on his blood test results. He passed a double yellow line and went into oncoming traffic and killed a man in a head on collision. It's like saying the axe murderer got off because he was sober.

The drunk walks away and the kid on the mo-ped dies :( That kind of crap happens too often.

My one and only DUI was on a bike, I was .22 BAC and 35 years old. I quit for many years
and just drink with meals on rare occasions at age 59.

I hope Billy stays sober after he get outta prison.

I'd have to agree with you. He took someones life. Doesn't matter how good his bikes are.

Only $15k bond...He might serve 5 years and be on probation forever.
The charge is DUI manslaughter not murder 1.

And yes I hate drunk drives and riders ;)
