Heh, I'm no saint. And I think it would be best an argument of morality as you mentioned vs religion. Nobody has exactly the same stance on morality. And my point was that if everybody showed intolerance for other peoples views of morality (which the pro-homosexual movement is the worst about) then EVERYONE would be a bigot.

I think people who pull the Bigot card are just as bad as those that pull the race card.

Yet you keep pulling it?

Btw, there is no pro-homosexual movement. There is a huge anti movement though.

No homosexual movement... hahahahah thats funny. You're pretty blind if you don't see the ultra lib, pro homo agenda.

I have never in my life had anyone tell me that I'm a bad person for not having sex with other dudes.

nice spin.

Well, that WOULD be the definition of a pro-homosexual movement.
Now, pro-homosexual-acceptance movement, yeah. Because it's stupid to think gays are anything other than normal people. Personally, I don't care if anyone wants to think gays will burn in hell or whatever, as long as they have the decency to keep it to themselves.
It's in bad taste to tell anyone that they're going to hell because of the way they were born.
And before anyone tries to trot out the old "It's a choice!" chestnut, they'd better not, unless they've decided to be gay for a day or two so they know what it's like.

But what if I do say its a choice because I tried it for a day or so. Am I a bigot?

Probably, but I'm pretty sure you'd also be a liar 😛

I'll make a tshirt that says "Im a lying bigot"

No need, people can probably figure that out within the first minute of conversation with you.

It would probably sell well on tshirthell.com 😛

If you don't like being called a bigot, don't be one. You and your ilk do far worse things than call people names.

The problem is that the definition of bigot has been so watered down that everyone is now a bigot.

Rant

I love how if I have an opinion that differs from others, such as showing a bit of intolerance towards a group of people that are living a lifestyle that I disagree with, I will be called out as a Bigot, loon, fundie, etc. and basically belitted. Aren't those that do that also Bigots because they can't seem to tolerate my group of people who disagree with them?
Yeah if I were you I'd refuse to be treated that way and never post here again.

I think TechBoyJK and many others here, see sig, fit the "old" definition just fine.

I think you troll for responses and play devil's advocate

BINGO. I'm done with the thread now.

So you created this thread just to troll?

I thought people got a long vacation for that?

No, more than that. I wanted to debate the lax usage of the word Bigot around this forum. As people discuss it, I play devil's advocate and try and take a radical position as to really call out the arguments.

Do you honestly believe every person who posts in religious / political / etc threads believes the stance they portray? I mean c'mon.

There is a differance between someone having a discussion and a troll/bigot.

I use to have some friends who got some perverse social stimulation out of bigotry. They were highly intolerant of people who were simply different then themselves. Bigotry leads to stereotyping and we all know how stereotypes can be a real time-saver. These people like to "figure someone out" right away. Unfortunaly, bigotry isn't as satisfying over the Internet as it is in a social setting.

The hallmark of bigotry is that it's not amenable to reason and prejudges members of a group based on their membership in that group. For example, I don't think the OP is a terrible person because he's Christian, or a conservative. I think he's a terrible person because he makes willfully ignorant posts on internet forums comparing homosexuality to pedophilia.

Edit: Techboy you are an idiot.

Your "group" tells people that don't follow your rules that they will burn in hell for eternity. My "group" says that we will all decompose into nitrogen no matter how we act.

Which is worse? Which is harder to stomach?

Decompose into nitrogen eh? That is some weird group...

That is because we all know you do, which makes you a bad person don't ya know...
