I don't remember the name of the game, but it was built into real life. You had to solve a murder or something like that, but you received actual phone calls, emails, etc that REALLY put you in the game. This was about 4-5 years ago and it only lasted 1 chapter.

Yeah, I remember reading about that game. Get phone calls and email with tips on 'the game'... madness. Like people are stalking you.

Yeah...M4H nailed it..Majestic..

Why aren't there more games like this in the world?

J/K, 4x4 Evo(lution)

i actualy enjoyed 4x4 evolution. was a nice little free download I played for about a year beofr ei got grand turesmo. I liked going off the track at night, with rain and fog, and try to find my way back without the map. :)

mdchesne, don't get me wrong, I love the game! I really do, but I do think the developers/programmers could have refined it more. It was a great game that could have been an excellent game if would have been refined, it was kinda buggy at times.

I'm not even a gamer, but the amount of outrage that surrounded the release of Daikatana was astounding. Didn't it end up in the bargain bins in just a couple of months?

I've never seen any other game generate the volume of bitterness that it did.

It was, so, so, so, so bad.

really, really bad.

And I so wanted to play it. Until I got it.

One word. Heck, not even a word, I'll make it a character:

$

Having real people on staff to record phonecalls, send emails, etc - wasn't cheap. New content is tough enough for an MMO - imagine trying to "make content" for real life. :p

Edit - Oh, and people weren't too big on being stalked. :D

Bigtime....#1 biggest disappointment evar!

I would also put Doom3 up there....god that game got sooo boring. It was just a very long visual effects demo with no real gameplay fun, and certainly no replay value.

The whole dmn game was like a horror movie where they cover up special effects with dark settings...just so you can't see where they fvckup.......fvcking goddamn flashlight.

NPR had a week long special on flops. Daikatana was featured on day two or three, it got owned for at least 30 minutes of airtime. I believe it was the only videogame that made the list.
