OP, the word you are looking for is "failure".

My god, in 100 years we won't have an English language anymore, just a bunch of babbling internet fuckups.

That is what grammar Nazi's are for.

Incorrect use of apostrophe. <-- Sentence fragment.

Sentence fragment is a sentence fragment. *asplode*

When I think of epic fail, three titles come to mind:

1. ET - what other game has it's own landfill!!??
2. Earth64 - A "launch" title for the N64 that was "still in development" through 2002...LOL
3. Diakatana - epic fail for all the failed promises and delays in the game

Never heard of Earth64. Do you mean Earthbound 64? It was canned way before 2002.

Yeah, it sounded like an interesting story so I Googled it, can't find anything about a N64 game called Earth64.

Haha, I can't believe you are still playing this poppin. I have to admit if I still had my copy I would have re-installed it to see the subscriber stuff. Sounds like they did a few interesting things, but way too little and way too late obviously.

Yeah, sorry this was "earthbound64"; it was officially cancelled in August of 2000, but there were rumors it was still in development through much of 2002. Again, rumors popped-up in 2005 that the game was being revived, but I haven't heard too much since then other than the code may have been leaked and fans were working on getting the game workable with N64 emulators.

It was amazing to me that the game was originally scheduled for the 1996 N64 release, but wasn't canceled until almost 5 years later. Crazy...

You heard rumors of the game being revived and released because it was.
The story was adapted for the Gameboy Advance and it came out in Japan. The series name is Mother in Japan and the GBA game is called Mother 3. A translation patch just came out a few months ago. It was a pretty good game, and I can see why it didn't get released in the US, there are just so many cultural taboos (things that are ok in Japan but not here) that it would never have gotten an E rating.
The game came out after the launch of the DS in Japan though. Had they planned things a little better, they could have ported and finished the n64 version to the DS rather than doing a GBA version. I suppose it was the quickest way to get the game out though, the game doesn't even come close to pushing the limits of the GBA and features fairly linear game design.

That's good to hear. I actually bought the game to play single player. That aspect of the game will live on forever at least.

MCO lasted from October 2001 to September or October of 2003. Its failure was pretty much because a lack of advertising on EA's part. At the same time all the money EA has was being invested in the Sims Online, and most of the studios that MCO was created and controlled in were being closed down or moved to support the Sims craze.

Maybe I should reinstall HG:L and give it a good play for a month. I had a DAMNED nice MM with sweet dual HU's before they nerfed it. It was still fun, but lost that all too nice room clearing combo that made it fun to play.
I never tried it in DX10 flavor. Maybe I should install it on the "new" pc and try it out.

the BIG DEAL is *Stonehenge*
- New monsters, new attacks - DX10 to DIE for [runs fantastic fully maxed, 19x12, on a GTX280] - it's a whole new expansion!

AND we could create an AT Guild for 31 days
--look for me - MaximusRex - Level 37 Engineer going for Level 50 on NightMare difficulty

My *favorite* Class is 'Evoker' .. i got to Level 50 in the Single Player; almost beat it 3 times through
--did i mention that i rather like the game?

.. i think if it were released in its current form - 15 months ago - they would not be shutting it down
- it's MP bugs, lack of high-level content for subscribers{Stonehenge was released too late and is still a bit buggy}, and a god-awful demo - not to mention i think Flagship did not agree with their publisher - killed it

R.I.P.

Of course if you live in Korea or Japan you can STILL play it and the new expansion
--Hellgate: Seoul, The Next Invasion

^^ i really wish they had included direct connect for multiplayer in addition to standard servers. we could still play together if the servers weren't down.. but *sigh* no.

i really wanted to play blademaster, but god i got owned. evoker just didn't seem that fun, though i supposed i should try again. i generally don't like summoning classes :\

Ya, I've played in SH. It was much better than the rest. When I first heard about the crap hitting the fan, I had already canceled my subscription and couldn't use half my gear.

I'm reinstalling as we speak.

Left my BM at lvl 40 something. Tired of getting owned in the upper lvls. BM is a wicked class in the lower lvls tho.

So i will see you in hell

-- PM me your avatar name or just look for me in SH
- the bad news is that i am playing on Satellite Broadband :p

My Engineer was better before they rebalanced him but he can call some heavy strikes every few seconds .. and 6 rockets from his drone is some decent firepower
- Evoker was really weak in the beginning but the Reaper you could call was almost unstoppable - even on Nightmare difficulty ... and sometimes he just stayed with you
. . . Blademaster was a total blast in the beginning levels but the air demons drove me nuts and i only played BM in the beta; i didn't care for Guardian and left him at level 10

From my reading of it, the timing is simply from the events of who is buyig out who and deciding to sut what down, not for the purpose of providing 15 months.

And I've seen no legal obligation for them to provide 15 months. Maybe that's playing a factor but I"ve seen no evidence saying that.
