Good job misinterpreting the Bible. Both chapters you refer to are speaking of the same event.

Context is everything . . . Mark, Chapter 7:

5 So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"
6 He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
" 'These people honor me with their lips,

Jesus is calling out the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. They claimed to be Godly men, but he was showing them by extreme example they didn't even follow the teachings they proclaimed to be the teachers of the law for. The Pharisees would in effect "disown" their parents when they came to them seeking help by claiming their money belonged to the church, and they could not spare any for charity for their own family.

More, from Matthew:

I find it interesting how quickly this topic derailed into a liberal/conservative slug fest. It's no surprised that Jaskalas was unable to resist the urge to bash liberals, that's pretty much all he's good for around here, but it's not like everyone else didn't follow him off the cliff.
