Had the worst trouble with Newport News, VA dept manager named Matt. Flat out refused to honor the Toys R Us printout - would not even call them. Drove across the street, got the "real" flier and took it to his boss. She was extremely apologetic, looked me in the eyes the whole time, and gave very good service recovery. Two reasons I didn't buy at Toys R US:

1 - they were heavily picked over

2 - the line was very long

3 - Have a free Best Buy rewardzone membership - worth almost another $5

Is it just me, or is top spin and amped 2 still $50, NFL fever being the only one on sale for 34.99

I don't think Top Spin and Amped 2 are on sale for $35. It sort of looks like it in the ad, because they are right next to NFL Fever, which is $35. The tipoff is that the $35 price tag in the ad does not say "each." Thus, it applies only to Fever.

Correct.

In fact, I had trouble using the $10 off Top Spin coupon along with the $20 off Best Buy promo for buying a Live game and Live renewal card. The system wanted to give me a total of $20 off ($10 coupon then $10 on a gift card.) In the end, with the help of a manager, I paid $80 and got the $10 gift card. Don't be surprised if you run into problems trying to do what I did.

$10 coupon for Top Spin?

I did not even consider this game. I mean, tennis (yawn.) But everyone XBox Live was talking about how fun it is today. And Gamespot gave it the best review I've seen out of them I think.

I will say that Amped 2 is absolutely incredible. SO much better than that SSX Tricky thing. You have complete freedom on a mountain - just amazing on a 61" HDTV. And there are many different game types online. It's a blast. There's just nothing else like it...

My AMPED 2 $10 coupon said "no copies" but they took it no questions asked. If you use a good inkjet printer and trim the coupon they won't notice in the haste of checking out at the register. In fact, the barcode scanner took it - it doesn't always. Make sure you print it a decent size.

Thanks for the link.

Yeah, I used the amped coupon no problems, I'm pretty sure the coupon is only available online, so it would be kind of hard NOT to use a copy

Anyway who wants the GTA double pack a day early should check Toys R Us. I read on the xbox newsgroup a guy in ohio got his there on Monday, I called the one near me this morning (Lawrenceville, NJ TRU), and they were also selling it.

That's what I thought until I played Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast. I will need to get Top Spin to tide me over until Sega comes up with something.

All preplayed games at Blockbuster are $3 off right now. Picked up Ghost Recon: Island Thunder last night at best buy, preplayed, for $12. They also had Brute Force for $12 and Star Wars KOTOR for $26. All pre-played, all YMMV. FYI - the first store I went to (I'm in Seattle) didn't have Island Thunder but the guy was happy to call around until he found a copy for me.

First the deal: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is now $19.99 everywhere, and $14.99 at best buy. Use the $5 off coupon and get it for $9.99 at your local B&M. I know that the GC version is $9.99, but that version suffers from some frame rate issues, so this is a better buy.

Now the rant: Ran into some bastard cashier at Best Buy. He rang up my Gamer's Gift Card separately from the game, but then refused to applied the coupon when he was ringing up a game. Told me it's corporate policy or some such bovine excrement. Fine, I took it to customer service, asked to return the game and then ring it up again with the coupon. The folks there happily obliged. Don't know what's the guy's problem...

the coupons are $5 off of $19.99 or more, so it would not work with a 14.99 game.

Oh that's right, was there to pick up Fire Emblem when I saw the deal, but I didn't pick dark alliance up because I already have the game, so I forgot about the $19.99 requirement.

Stolen from Fatwallet:

Saw this a the mall tonight(Alabama). YMMV but it may be chain wide. New XBOX with 3 game package for $149 (marked regular $179). It looks like you have a choice of several titles for 2 of the games. I just built a new E Cube system from Newegg so I don't need one right now but maybe someone out there does. It seems like a pretty warm price since you get 3 game titles with the system. Unfortunately, I did not get a list of the titles available.

I saw this in the mall here in the SF Bay Area. I think it was Electronics Boutique or something like that.
