If you're not familiar with it, metacritic is a site that gathers reviews from tons of other sites for video games (and movies and other stuff too) and shows an overall, consensus score. I think it's pretty cool.

actually, i am a football fan (my friend got nfl sunday ticket on directv and i was over at his house every weekend for football), i just didn't know when the football video games come out. i was thinking they would be out a month or so after the draft, that way they can have pretty accurate rosters (and then make any necessary changes to the rosters once the season starts via Live!). I think I'll just wait on getting a football game for xbox, cuz right now I always go over to my friend's to play madden 2k3 on his ps2... we made our own team and have played about 5 seasons so far... for some reason, it never gets boring.Originally posted by: Runciter

New football games generally come out at the start of the football season so that generally means Aug or Sept (you know the SuperBowl was like less than a month ago, right?) OTOH, that means last (this past) year's games are pretty cheap. NFL2k3 should be less than $30, at one point I think someone had it on sale for like $15 or $20. Fever03 should be in the same price range. Dunno about Madden as that is not Live enabled (thus no interest to me). Oh, NCAA 2003 (from EA) is $19.95 at Best Buy and NCAA 2k3 should be about the same or less than $30 anyway. I believe neither are Live enabled.

For anyone trying to snag a copy of Stell Batallion from Best Buy B&M dont bother. The store is, and has been since release, out of the game. They checked the computer and according to the info listed they dont expect any more shipments for this game so you'll need to find it somewhere else.

Yep...altho XBL subscription covers all current Live and most upcoming games, with the exception of the upcoming PSO. It has an additional charge per month.
Grrrreat thread. I'm going to post a pretty controversial question. I'm pondering the purchase of either a Gamecube or an Xbox. Opinions abound on which of these systems is "better". But, I haven't found any good recent "shootout" style reviews. Anybody have any good links to offer?

I have both and like them for different reasons. xbox has better sound and grafix. gamecube has some kick ass cube only titles, such as Metroid Prime and Animal Crossing (and soon to be Zelda). Xbox also has kick ass xbox only titles (Halo, PGR, splinter cell). I didn't buy an xbox for its game lineup tho, I bought it so I can turn it into a Media Player... I plan on playing (s)vcd, divx, mp3, ogg, pictures, etc. all from my xbox soon... check it out here.

Here is the answer I got from a buddy who has all 3 consoles when I asked this question:
I hacked my xbox with a mod chip and a big hard drive, so now its the only machine I use. The only games I may get for my other two systems (i'm such a friggin geek to own all three) are vice city and metroid. Everything else these days is cross platform and the xbox version is usually the best. If you like killing games, I think xbox is the right one.
Of course, still. No vice city.
I make a motion to STOP the sharing of opinions on anything but XBOX here... TallGeese has a VERY diffcult time in his life today/tomorrow...the next FOUR YEARS, with his new child...so let's not complicate things for him. Please keep this thread ON TOPIC! XBOX DEALS NOT WHICH ONE IS BEST! Please, Please consider what you're saying here as it can get the thread locked and who KNOWS what we'll have 'til TallGeese has time again...

IMHO, it would be helpful for a great many folks if traffic about anything other than Xbox Hot Deals was kept to a minimum.
I don't want folks to be nervous about posting to the thread, but there has been an awful lot of non-Hot Deal chatter lately.
While it makes me proud that so many folks read and use the list, and look to it for guidance on Xbox decisions, I've gotten a good bit of feedback that some folks don't look at the BIG LIST because it's...well...too big.
That kinda bums me out when I hear that...and Tanner is right in that MTG is due to have our second child this week.
So I will have MUCH less time to keep the list updated.
It will be even more important then for folks to keep up with the recent posts to the thread.
BTW: I have to say that I am VERY grateful that there have been no fanboy discussions in the list yet (at least nothing major).
