PDO came out in Jan 2003, which is why I'm a little shocked that it might be stopping production. Maybe it didn't sell well enough to become a Platinum Hit.

I suspect it's going to be re-released as a platinum hit, but this is only speculation on my part.

That or possibly part of a new Sega Xbox bundle. The Sega GT/JSRF bundle is being discontinued.

While that's certainly a possibility, I kinda doubt that PDO will be part of a bundle as M$ loses money on each console they sell. With the price of the XBOX down $20 right now and chances are it will go down another $30 in the fall, I doubt M$ will include a game with it anymore as they're already losing money on it so bundling it with a game would just mean that much more of a loss.

Microsoft is pretty much sacrificing huge losses in this generation to establish name, reputation, and market share for the next. I would bet you they're not spending as much money as you think for the Sega GT/JSRF combo. They weren't big sellers for Sega despite their reviews, and Micosoft knows how to force people to give them good deals.

Well, I went to the local Gamestop and spoke with the manager there. He said that PDO was still an active title on their computers. However, it was marked down to $29.99, so I decided to pick it up as I had some store credit there. Got the game for like $24.

Does anyone know if you have to pay monthly price for PSO on the XBOX to play online?

Yes you do. However it does come with like 2 months free. After that it's $10 a month.

If you want to play offline, you will still need Xbox Live, even though you won't be using the connection.

Also, for anyone that wants to get the Best Buy deal (buy Xbox Live and Mech Assult/Phantasy Star Online/Ghost Recon), keep in mind that the computer will not automatically give you the $20 off if you use the Gamer's Gift Card coupon. However I took my order to customer service and the cool rep redid the order with the coupon off for me. He even gave me his gamer tag while he was ringing it up. Essentially I am getting Xbox Live for 49.99 and Mech Assault for $5. Awesome deal.

Hey how does gamestop work? I remember they said they'd pay me $22 for my Halo...if i wanted like store credit for a game, would it be worth more than what they'd pay me in cash? Also, theres another thread for this but NBA Street Vol. 2 is $37.88 at Target this week. Just a reminder. Great game...i paid $50 for it when it first came out.

Gamestop told me that they'll give you 20% more store credit than cash. I went with the store credit since they had the game I wanted there and it was the same price everywhere else, so I figured I'd get it for a little cheaper. If you're planning on selling them Halo, just keep in mind that they're selling used copies of it for $45. A little high IMO since a new one is $5 more. Nevertheless, maybe you can bargain for more from them since they're selling it so high.

Hey Everybody,

I got my latest OXM (Official XBox Magazine) issue last week and finally opened it today. In the All Access section there was a small article on the XBox Live renewal/subscription rates. They have finally been announced. The rates are as follows:

1-year renewal/subscription: $49.99
1-month subscription: $5.99
Live Communicator: $29.99
Live Starter Kit: $69.99

Good things is that you can buy a monthly subscription if say you dont play when you're at school or on long vacations. Also you can buy extra communicators without the need for more starter kits.

Bad thing is that the price of the starter kit is going up so I would suggest to all of you waiting not to wait too long.

Only thing not mentioned in the article is when the rates will go into effect.

WTF, so when does the $20 increase take effect? I might get on the deal this week where you get $20 off any live enabled game with purchase. LMK.

Yeah, I heard this about a month ago.....not sure when the new prices go into effect. The monthly fee is definitely a good idea for resubscribers, and the resubscription annual fee is decent, but the newcomers fee($70) is a bit steep and I think M$ will have a hard time signing up new customers with a $70 price tag.

Just saw 007: Nightfire is down to $14.99 on ebgames, seems like a pretty damn hot deal if you ask me

Great price for a really good game. This one was almost as good as goldeneye, far, far better than agent under fire

Is this the better of the 2 Bond games out for Xbox? I remember some one on here saying that one of the 2 Bond games for Xbox sucked, and the other one was fairly good....???

yeah...just hoping for a second opinion, as I have some games that I love, that other people don't necessarily care for(Enclave is probably one of my most favorite games on Xbox, and I've not seen it get alot of love) Perhaps Nightfire could've been one of those games for you.

Thanks!

edit-I just researched it and found a site called GameRankings that has a ton of different reviews on individual games and they average out all reviews/scores and give an overrall score. Nightfire was much bettter rated, so it sounds like I'm on my way to EB. Thanks again.

Sweet! I was just thinking today, how ToeJam and Earl has been one of two older Sega games to hold their $49.99 price, and I was about to look to see if it got discounted yet. The other game is House of the Dead III - I'm sure it won't be long now.

HOD3 is a great game, but only if you have a gun.
It adds another $30 to the cost of the game.
And there is only one official xbox gun in US by Mad Catz and it's hell ugly (those 3rd party ones look way better, get it from ebay)
So, it's hard to justify to buy an ugly gun ($40 MSRP) based on only one game, and without a gun, you can get only half fun from the game. A bad cycle effect.

Most Namco's shooting game for PS2 w/ light gun included only sells for $50.
