Ok, I have a question for all of you MechAssault gurus... When I am playing MA on Live! I don't seem to have the same selection of mechs that a lot of people have (for instance I can't choose the Ragnarok.) Do I have to complete the single player game before more mechs are available to me?
You unlock the Ragnarok and the Ymir variant of the Rag when you finish the SP missions.

Those Rags always just eat me for breakfast. I gotta finish the game to get my Rag on.

Yes you can...using either Gamespy Tunnel or XBconnect.

Do those programs work well? And, are there a decent amount of people playing online using Gamespy Tunnel?

thanks Tallgeese

Hey guys...not rain on anybody's parade...but maybe some of this non-Hot Deal stuff should go in other threads?

Like in Software, prolly.

thanks!

Hey Tallgeese

Did you see the post about Wreckless the Yakuza missions at EB. Eb has it for $19.99, but in their "Winter Sale" coupon sheet they have a coupon for $10 off instantly. $9.99 out the door is a good price. I also can scan the coupon sheet and post it on my website if you need it....🙂

I already scanned and posted it. Here is a link to the winter coupon sheet.... Coupons

How come my EB B&M never have these coupon/rebate things?! Can someone mail me one of these, I'll pay the postage. If someone would be willing to mail me one, I'd get it b4 it expires. =)

The Gamespot review has been a serious sore point on the Xbox forums and the reviewer is being called a bigoted PS2 fanboy who wants a big head code and PS2 version instead. They've pointed out major errors in the review as well.

This thread at Team Xbox has 435 posts already and the term "digital crack" is being bandied around a LOT! A lot of guys tell of their women getting hooked and they're totally into the role-playing aspects.

At Planet Xbox, some guys were bitching that it wasn't a hard-core volleyball sim and that the game sucked, to which I told them, and I quote: If you want realistic volleyball, why don't you drag your fat asses off the couch and GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY VOLLEYBALL, if you can without collapsing and needing your inhalers after 20 seconds!"

People looking for a SPORTS GAME are totally missing the point. It's not not like they kept the nature of the game a secret - the RP angle was well-known - but morons are acting like they were lied to. Dopes!:|

From the beginning, I don't think DOAXVB is targetting for US market, not even the original DOA3 (it's much popular in Asian countries than US ever), and I don't expect to see excellent reviews from US reviewers. Characters are Japanese for sure as well as the game play (e.g. the shopping thing). I'm more fond of fun games (that's what XBox lacks compared to PS2) then those hardcore blood spreading US games (e.g. Mortal Kombat has never been popular in Asia). All of my friends bought PS2 because they like Japanese style game more. I bought an XBox recently only because its homebrew programming capabilities (more or less as PC).

Though, I wish they could make it a fighting volleyball, that would be very very fun, e.g. fire ball, multiple balls, like a very very old arcade/NES game if you've ever played that.

Picked up Wreckless for $10 @ EB, gawd that game is annoying.
Anyhow, also picked up Dark Angel for $20 (price drop) less $5 coupon also @ EB. Game is not as good as Buffy IMHO, but figured what the hell for $15. 🙂

Does anyone have any deals on the actual systems? All I can figure out is the sign up for a target credit card to get 10% off. But my local target is out of stock on the systems. BTW I am also trying to get away from the 8% California tax as well.

From the first page of this thread:

Xbox console (with original "Duke" controller) plus coupon for JSRF/Sega GT 2002 disc - Toys R Us - $179.99 (posted 01-18-03)
Xbox Sega bundle - Accessmicro.com - $179 (posted 01-06-03)
Xbox Sega bundle, 2nd S controller, DVD Playback kit - Costco.com - $239.99 (posted 12-05-02)

I know I bought the Costco one because I thought it was a good deal.

Also, tried to get the $10 off for XBox Live & Unreal Champ. from EB, but the B&M didnt know what I was talking about. Guess I gotta order it online.

Starting tomorrow at Best Buy you get 3 games when you purchase an XBOX for 199.99. Games are JSRF, Sega GT, and NFL Fever. Deal runs thru Feb 1.

Does Toys R Us still have this deal? I went there and I didn't see it. Also I can't find the accessmicro deal. And that costco.com is decent, except I don't need that DVD playback thing. If I did, that would be great though. I am looking for a barebones Xbox or the system with the Advanced AV Pack. Also I want the Sega GT game to hopefully be included. Thats mainly why I want the system. I now wish I got on that buy.com deal.

I just went to Buy.com and added the Xbox system w/GT2002 and JSRF for $199.99 and used the $20 off of $200 and my cart showed the total price (excluding shipping) for $179.99.

I do believe it classifies for free shipping too.

That's a good deal - no shipping, no tax, no tip.

Forget about the tip part.

I totally forgot about that coupon. Hopefully I was able to send my gift cert to a new account and then can use the $20 off $200 coupon. Too bad Cali has tax. I actually use to live about 15 minutes from where buy.com is located.

Hi folks,
So couple things, first, deals I found:
B&M
Robotech Battlecry was $19.99 at both Sam Goody and Costco
NFL 2k3 was $29.99 at Sam Goody
Buffy was $19.99 at Costco
Best Buy has the Japanese S Controller for 24.99 - 5 coupon = 19.99.

Onto my questions:
I heard Best Buy is starting a deal tomorrow (the 26th) to include NFL Fever with any XBOX purchases. I bought mine there couple days ago (23rd), anyone know if they will setup me in a pricematch style deal? Plus, I assume this is Fever 2003?
Second, anyone know of deals on DOA3? I guess the best we can do is 29.99 - 5 coupon at Best Buy?
I love my XBOX So far!!!
Thanks,
-Shaown

Try EB for DOA3. I got mine there for $22.99 like 2 weeks ago. Some people got theirs for $19.99 from EB. Or if you can get your BB or CC to call EB and have them do a 110% PM...even better. (D@mn that was a lot of acronyms).

It'll be more hassle, but you'll prolly get more $$$ by selling it on eBay or local classifieds.

You could also bide your time and watch for a special at either Gamestop or EB, since they will sometimes run promotions where you can trade in an old console for a spankin new one!

Depending upon how cool the staff and management is at a local Gamestop or EB, they may do such a trade anyway, especially if you express interest in purchasing some games and accessories for the new console right away.

BTW: Good idea to know EXACTLY how much each of your games is worth BEFORE you go in. Some games are VERY rare, and trading such a title away on such a deal rather than selling it to a collector would be foolish.
