Thinking about gettin a Gamecube just to play Viewtiful JOE after reading the review at gamestop.com. Is it worth it?

With the price of gamecube at an all time low and tons of good games, it is worth it. I haven't picked up Viewtiful Joe yet but I'm sure it's as good as the reviews. The only thing I don't like about the cube is that it's a money sucking machine ;), I'm at 13 games (2 pre-orders - Harvest Moon and FF) and going.

Hell, I'd get a cube just for this.

lol. I'm with you guys. I want that so bad! :D

I noticed that A Link to the Past is conspicuously absent. I guess Nintendo doesn't want to cut into their GBA Sales of the game.

probably referring to metroid prime, which i also think is the best game on the system, and thats saying alot!

gonna pick up viewtiful on thurs and the reviews have been outstanding! show your support for the sleeper titles and EVERYONE pick it up for only 40$.. maybe they will grace us with a sequel.

btw theres a free shipping coupon floating out there so i indeed got the ultimate party game super monkey ball 2 for 20$ at EBgames.com. I love my first copy and am contemplating selling it.

with the gc the same price as the gbasp and games coming in at bargain prices you could load up for cheaper than going the gameboy route! how cool is that.

Yeah I finally found the time to finish the game last week, and I have to say Metroid Prime is one amazing game. Viewtiful is one stylish game, I could believe how awesome that game was in the demo.

As for Super Monkey Ball 2, man I can't over that Monkey Targetting music. Sometimes I go to the Sega website to play their free online version of Monkey Targeting for a quick fix, it has the actual music too. I think I think I'm heading over right now.

ebgames.com showing Super Monkey Ball 2 at 29.99 now on backorder status.

My order is in at the 19.99 price from a few days ago... I hope they will honor it...

Actually, Nintendo has only made an NES emulator and highly optimized game-specific emulators for N64 on GameCube. The N64 emulator has been seen in Zelda:TOoT, Zelda:TOoT - Master Quest and Nintendo Puzzle Collection. The NES emulator has been seen in Metroid Prime (Not refering to the GBA NES emulator in Animal Crossing, e-Reader, Wario Ware, etc). Oh, and there's the upcoming GBA emulator to be included in the GC Pokemon game (Will only operate if you link with the real copy, much like the N64 version of Pokemon Stadium). We've all seen Lucas Arts' Star Wars Arcade emulator too ;)

Yeah, it was Metroid Prime dr_wily :)

BTW, I found a leftover SSBM GC bundle at a Target store (I won't say which until I know if my friend wants it or not). It is $99.99, despite having the old bundle barcode sticker slapped over the original.

They also had a bundle I bought a loooong time ago when I saw one left at the Carrollton, GA Target store:
A Platinum GBA + free "china" (Breakable) DK bobblehead figurine in blister packaging and $10 off software coupon (Expired?). They had three of them. They must have been stored away somewhere.

I don't know if this applies to all Walmarts, but I saw F-Zero with a sticker price of $29.99 at:

Walmart in Miami
87th Avenue NW 13 ST

I guess YMMV on this till it is verified at other Walmarts.

Good luck.

looks like the case is $35 and the gameboy player is $45... they mixed up the picture and the description of the products

Toys R Us is going to have buy 2 get 1 free GameCube games starting Oct 19. Might be online on Amazon/TRU as well. The PS2 & XBox B2G1F starts Oct 26. So no mix matching for GC games :|

In case anyone lives near a Fry's, I thought I'd mention that their ad in the Portland area today shows Viewtiful Joe for $34.99.
This is a new side-scrolling beat-'em-up action game that is getting superb reviews at IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy, etc.

That would be very hot. I remember TRU did this a few months ago with PS2 and XBox games, GC games might have been included but I didn't own a GC then. I am a recent convert since the price drop. I have been very happy so far.

I'm not too sure about the details for the TRU B2G1 free deal yet. My guess is that only $39.99 and $49.99 games are eligible, similar to PS2 deals in the past. But if it is online too, then most likely pre-orders are accepted as part of the deal.

I'm sure more details will surface this week.
