Biden eyes GOP candidates for Cabinet slots

Tarot cards or Ouija board? Just because some article says Biden's team is vetting GOP candidates doesn't mean he'll pick any of them.
Only if he wants to accomplish anything useful and good for the country. That's pretty doubtful based on his choice for Vice-President.

Obama left Comey at the FBI, and he then gave the 2016 election to Trump. Biden hasn't learned, I guess.
Bingo.

How about Democrats stop giving right-wing authoritarian traitors positions in the government as a way to "reach out" to right-wing authoritarian traitors? Radical, I know.

Remaining a Republican given what that party has become tells you all you need to know about a person's character and fitness for office.

Not all Republicans are fascists, and blanket accusations like that just lead to more polarization and hatred. Most Republicans have been in politics for a LOT longer than the President, they didn't sign up for Trumpism- they got hijacked.

Even the so-called "moderate" Republicans want to fill SCOTUS with people like Clarence Thomas and ACB. We got lucky that Trump is so incompetent and stupid. They agreed with Trump on most of the issues. They hate him for being so incompetent and contemptible. If it was Rubio at the helm, they would have had an easier time preventing the Democrats from getting a trifecta so soon while also accomplishing what Trump did with the courts.

Ever feel like Democrats are playing by the rules where as republicans are constantly coming up with ways to break all the rules? Democrats don’t voter suppress, Democrats don’t praise dictators, Democrats don’t defecate on the constitution, Democrats don’t pack the courts, Democrats don’t do a lot of nasty things that republicans do. Yet, every time republicans pull something like voter suppression or screwing with the postal system to steal an election, Democrats feel outraged as if republicans have never tried this before. I would hope that someday Democrats would realize that they are the only ones who are playing by the rules and Democrats should never expect that from a republican.

Some Democrats still want to "play by the rules" because they aren't that liberal.

I like these tweets that Sam Wang retweeted.

Negative. Justices of the Supreme Court have lifetime tenure & are subject to removal only by the impeachment process, resignation or death.

You seem isolated.

Here's the scoop. Do take it with a grain of salt. Maybe a bucket, but thems the breaks.
Point being, they aren't going to last forever. Just winning elections will tip the SCOTUS back in our favor.

We have to continue to do the right thing. Appointing the best people for the job ensured the right decisions are made. People like Colin Powel or even Romney are not partisan hacks. In a cabinet position they won't be dragged into the clowns of the senate GOP.

Um, what? Both of those have done absolutely partisan hack shit. Powell should be so ashamed of himself for his role in the Iraq invasion bullshit that he should disavow any and all military awards (I'll stop short of saying he should be tried for treason for knowingly helping to push a lie that led to the deaths of thousands of Americans even though he literally fucking did that). And Romney just says he's not partisan while absolutely acting fully partisan.

I wouldn't impugn Powell or Romney's personal character, but Powell certainly carried water for the Dick Cheney administration's Iraq WMD disinformation campaign. Romney is as fervent a never-Trumper as they come, yet everyone knew he would vote to confirm Amy Coney-Barrett to the Supreme Court.

I wouldn't be opposed to one moderate Republican on the cabinet, and Powell fits that bill. But honestly it's extremely difficult to find a moderate Republican who isn't a partisan hack. For all we know, they might even be extinct already.

I just believe that there exist establishment Republicans that will do a good job in a democratic white house while providing a way to save face for the senate Republicans. Face it, everything will be be along party lines otherwise, which leads to midterm backlash. If they play obstructionist when there are other respected Republicans vouching for the policy, it is possible some voters will become angry.

The reality is that the dems are only a few % away from senators in places like Texas. Reaching across the isle in a controlled manner may pay dividends. Most democratic policies are supported by the large majority of voters after all.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

2009-2010 just called. It wants its optimism back.

Democrats will expand the court. But it's a process. First we need to help this court delegitimize itself. Meaning there needs to be a PR strategy to respond to every decision with an ad campaign and expose it as partisan Republican, undemocratic, corporatist, anti-woman, etc. This court is so partisan and rigged, there will be no shortage of material.

This is pretty much what has to happen. The Dems can't just rush in there and pack the court. They have to pass the right legislation quickly, let the right sue and get it to the SC fast. Be on top of the media narrative to expose their decisions. It's gotta be like a PR campaign as you say- surrogates on all the channels, commercials, etc..

Negative. We need to expand the court before this majority of right wing sycophants can create precedent.

The Dems rush to pack the court, they are potentially fucked in the next midterm election. Needs to be more calculating and marketed better to the masses.
