I didn't see his "I am a motherfucker" shirt on....

BTW, come on, it was all joking around. Except for Biden's last comment.
"How much do I owe?" Did Biden really expect to pay? I mean it was probably a joke anyway because he was expecting to get it for free. You know, a typical comment to sound polite like he cares about paying even though we all know the VP will get his treat for free.

The manager obviously joked back with a mini jab.

MAYBE Biden was trying to joke back as was claimed in the article. Maybe he wasn't. So either he acted like a douche... or he joked but sucked at it. You know those jokes where people take too far and then there's an awkward silence? This was probably it if you liberal fanatics insist on Biden being right. Either way he's an idiot for an inappropriate comment--joke or not.

I disagree. If you watch the video Biden pulled money out of his pocket when he asked how much they owed. Watching the video I think Biden had every intention of paying.

What I think is really strange is the comment Biden made and when he made it. He didn't come right back with it, every source I've seen states that several minutes later Biden said "Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?" to the manager. The only smartass comment any media shows the manager making is the lower our taxes remark.

So, in true P&N form, I now know two things to be true beyond a shadow of a doubt. First, Biden is an idiot. He thought about it few minutes and that was the best he could come up with? Second, he's been hearing someone else say "why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time", which is why he added the extraneous "all the time".

this is really a silly issue to be arguing about. Biden shouldn't have said that. but big fucking deal. we all knew he would open his mouth before he thinks.

Maybe you and a couple of the other looney tunes in here don't like it, but Biden is the Vice President of the United States. The shop owner should have showed some damn respect and kept his f'in mouth shut. Be he opened it and Biden put him in his place as he should have.

You are very confused over who works for who. Biden should have "showed some damn respect".

I kiss my boss' ass, not the other way around.

This was his third gaffe of the day - that we know about.

First he went into the custard store and asked for ice cream. Then he stated that there was no way we were ever going to get back the 8 million jobs we lost. He topped it off with calling the manager a smartass.

He won't be on the 2012 ticket assuming Obama runs again.

Edit: I used to work for a large corporation. The unofficial dictum was widely considered to be; "Never hire anyone smarter than yourself because they'll just make you look bad." I'd say it's a dictum that's been adopted by government as a whole and certainly by Obama in the case of Biden.

My take on it, and I voted for Obama, is that his campaign was SIGNIFICANTLY helped by the media companies, in exchange for increased enforcement of existing copyright at no/reduced cost to the media companies, as well as the international treaties currently in progress (ACTA).

This was my only issue with Obama/Biden. Joe Biden has LONG been in the pocket of the media companies / copyright holders. I believe he was chosen by the media companies as a bridge back. I remember thinking, at the time, that he was a terrible pick for that reason specifically. I was hoping Obama would rein him in, but apparently not.

FACT: Biden is a civil servant.

FACT: The shopkeeper is a civilian.

Are we clear now, or do I need to whip out the Crayolas?

Some people feel the need to be serfs. We kicked the kings out of this country when it was created. I don't remember that we decided to elect them instead. The concept that to lead is to serve is apparently incomprehensible to some.

what? that's insane.

the VP is a civil servant. sure a important one but that does not mean we need to bend over and kiss his ass. The people are still his boss. he is supposed to be doing what the people want.

As a matter of fact more people need to be calling these assholes out.

As i said this is a silly issue. Biden shouldn't have said what he said (made him look like a idiot, but don't blame him).

Keep raving over your boy Biden and his "vernacular", though. I guess it matters in this domain you seem to lord over. Maybe you could write a song about him. Does anybody know anything that rhymes with "vernacular"?

When pondering thoughts of Harvey, "craptacular" comes to mind. :D

This is only news if the politician doesn't share your political views. If he/she shares your views, then he/she is just talking like common folk.

Where was the outrage when Governor Christie blasted the reporter? Nevermind, he's conservative. There wasn't any.

Personally, I like when politicians get worked up - whether it be Biden or Christie.

I can't be the only person that noticed that video isn't exactly continuous. What did the manager say in between?

Hey wag I'll give you that maybe Biden should not have said it. But one the shop owner showed very little respect to the VP of our country. Your little rant about him being our servant is weak in reality. So please stop with that. And another thing Biden called the shop owner a smartass because obviously the guy must have made another smart comment prior. Lets stick to facts. On one hand you want to give the shop owner the right to make a comment with a personal jab attached to it, but on the other hand you whine because Biden gave it right back to him. Be equal in judgement of all people involved and stay in reality. Biden is just not some other politician, if you can't understand that, return to middle school where you should have learned the structure of our goverment. To defend this shop owner over Biden in reality is a joke.

biden has every right to say it but as VP its really a stupid move. I expect that from small business men, farmers (spend a lot of time with them) etc. a CEO of a company? the nation? not so much.

he is still a civil servent. now im not saying people should have the right to abuse him but he should be doing what is in the best interest of the people NOT corporations, other countries etc.

when people who voted him into office criticize him he shouldn't lash out at them. take it and try to do better or explain why you have to.

See I just don't get that. Biden is suppose to conduct himself in a certain manner according to you because of the office he holds, but yet you don't slam the shop owner for being disrespectful to the same office. That makes zero sense.

Well why was he there to begin with? Was he there to just get a snack? From the Fox Friends report I saw he looked like he was there on business? Like he scooped some custard to serve a customer or something? Or at least thats what I got from one of the clips in there. I mean if it was an event, it was obvious he would be getting a tour and a free snack with it.

If he's dropping by for some food that's a different story.... but I dunno if he really had the intention of paying or he was just saying that and pulling a wallet. I think the man gets enough freebies here and there he doesn't need to pull out his wallet everywhere he goes. I mean presidents and VPs visit businesses all the time (not just on personal time) and they get freebies left and right. I honestly can't see them pulling out their wallet all the time. And even then I'm sure there's someone who takes care of the bill for them.

Why is this so difficult for you to understand? The shopkeeper works for himself, not Biden. Biden works for the shopkeeper, not himself.

Even brought out the crayons for ya.

disrespectful? for what? asking that he lower taxes? seems like something more people should be asking.

Perhaps both were in the wrong, and that may be fair to say. However, Biden has MUCH more to lose than the other guy. The shop has the potential to lose a customer, whereas Biden has the potential to lose his job. Therefore, by saying they both were in the wrong, Mr. Biden has a much harsher consequence.

Not once the IRS gets the word to audit his ass.

"Sir, Agents Paine and Hurt are here to 'get all Biblical on your uppity ass.' Shall I have the last ten years' records moved to the big conference room."
