For those fo you who got the BFG Asylum ti4200 early from Best Buy, how high can you overclock the card?

290/560 - 11126 in 3DMark2001Se
300/560 - 9986

I'm not sure why the score dropped, but there was no artifact at all.
I'm limited to 560mhz memory clock due to coolbits

Gonna try Powerstrip later tonight, and I'll post my results with higher mem speed.

Please post your result.

My rig is:
AthlonXP 1800+
512 MB of PC2100 Ram
Epox 8KHA+

One question about driver upgrading from a Ti200 to this Ti4200. Do I need to uninstall the old drivers or can I just install the new drivers over the old ones?

Memory Overclocking Comparison
Card Highest Stable Memory Overclock
ABIT Siluro GeForce4 Ti 4200 (64MB) 600MHz
Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra/650XP (128MB) 540MHz
Inno3D Tornado GeForce4 Ti 4200 (64MB) 610MHz
Prolink PixelView Ti 4200 (128MB) 550MHz
Visiontek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4200 (128MB) 600MHz

Taken from Anand Ti4200 roundup in July. If the BFG cards are similar to the Visiontek cards as many have said, we should be able to these up to 600 mhz. I am using coolbits so I am limited to 560mhz

Un-instal your current drivers. The reason is although all tnt or geforce can use the same drivers only the files for your particular card are installed and registered in the registry. For this reason you need to un-instal your current card and set it up as a standard VGA adapter. Then insert the new card and instal the drivers again (Det 40.72's are the newest WHQL)

Here's my results w/ 3DMark2001 SE b300 (default settings), Det 40.72 drivers and Coolbits

Default @ 250/446 ------ 8877
OC'd @ 315/530 --------- 9672 :D

A big improvement from the MSI-8853 Ti500 (CompGeeks) - 7497

System:

Athlon 1200 MP @ 1533 MHz (11.5X133.333)
Gigabyte GA-7DXR, Windows XP SP1
512 MB PC2100 - ECC Registered (could be the source of a bottleneck compared to regular PC2100). :frown:

i guess first of all we have to see if it actually gets hot to the point that it would benefit from h/s. according to my friend his visiontek 64mb after oc, just felt warm.

From my past experience, putting RAMsinks on would not help much. The best case would be 5 - 10 mhz.

I guess I'm just unlucky, my RAM flakes out at 480. Anything higher I get snow artifacts. Still not bad for $90, assuming the rebate gets here.

I can do 330/620 I guess I got lucky. I did notice that the 2D is the same as my Visiontek Ti200, so not that great. I get little fuzzyness at 1280x1024. It might be my monitor (I once pluged my laptop into that thing and the 2D wasn't good either, that was an ATI card)

Overall very satisfied with the oc score. I now run at 300/600 just to be on the safe side ;)
