BFG 7800GTX's, not at advertised speeds?

This is plain terrible.

I love my BFG 6800 Ultra and planned to move up to PCI-E and grab a 7800GTX, but now I'm not so sure. Think I will play the waiting game. I also can't believe that BFG would do something as dastardly as this.
 
interesting. thats a pretty big mistake. i wouldn't think bfg would do that intentionally, its not like people wouldn't notice 😛
 
Someone dident check the box.

Usually they would probably send it to a packing company to do all that for them.
I can imagine they got that wrong.

but it would have been up to BFG to approve it.
What a big mistake.
 
Well, he also paid $600.00+ for that card. It should run at the advertised spec, especially for that kind of money IMO.
 
At least he got a lifetime warranty and a 460 core clock, all for the same price paid by people that got other cards.
 
They do seems to run at advertised speed.
I checked mine, and they are running 460MHz, 1300MHz fine. 😉

They're all $600.00+. So whats your point? It's not like anybody spent a higher dollar amount to get a BFG. And besides, I think its either user error, or a coolbits error. Other people are reporting 1300MHz just fine.

It's not a misprint it's coolbits error not the cards (as the guy farther up already said). So the cards are running as advertised. Read all the posts on the other forum.

Another reason why I wish you didnt have to resort to 3rd party software to overclock. They need it in the drivers, like Overdrive..

Yes people do spend more for BFG. Look at ZZF and Monarch, see which cards are more than $600.

Umm, doesn't coolbits just "unhide" the overclocking utility that is already built into the Nvida dirver? Or were you speaking about something else?

People spend more. But did you spend more on this 7800GTX? Anyway, lets see how long it takes you to adjust the title of this thread, as it is now FUD. Or at least add "due to coolbits error".

I was talking about ATi's overdrive. More robust, and better.

ZZF. They had it for $599, like everyone else. Then it went out of stock, came back yesterday, at $619+ free 2-day. I HATE paying over MSRP, but did anyways. I sold something online, that I got for free, for a little over $20. So it didnt feel like I was spending $20 over MSRP.. makes me feel better, sorta. Now ZZF has the eVGA model for $549 and free 2-day shipping, but went out of stock fast. Ugh!!

Monarch too had the BFG for $599 and free shipping. Then raised it to $624, plus $7something shipping yesterday, when I was ready to order. Which just annoys me to no end that they price gouge, because most people want the BFG version.

I was going to wait till Monday, or later in the week to order, hoping for a price drop. But I got all my other new parts in, and my PC is sitting there ready, just waiting for a video card. And me with this new BF2 copy waiting to be played. So I went ahead and ordered it...

Gouging is very frustrating for sure. But just the same, I would not attribute this to any BFG wrongdoing. Not saying you are, just info. This is why I tend not to be an early adopter. I usually wait a few months after release and purchase when it actually hits close to MSRP. I did not buy my 6800GT until it hit 399.00. I hate paying over MSRP as well. But now it might be a little different as there is no competition for the 7800 series until at LEAST late August and thus no real reason to drive the prices of 7800's down. It sucks. I want ATI to get their R520 to market ASAP and fully functional to drive down nvidia prices and let the pricewar begin. Sorry for the slight OT, just kinda morphs.
