bf3 or bfbc2

Hiiii
I am thinking of buying either bf3 or bfbc2..but i am pretty confused...
are there enough people still playing bc2?
plz help and recommend better one...keeping in mind that bf3 costs almost twice than bc2.

I'd say BF3 simply because you'll have a much easier time finding a server you like. BC2 just doesn't have much of a playerbase left unfortunately, but it doesn't offer very much that you can't just get in BF3 anyway.

Hiii

Get both. BC2 is just a game you owe to yourself to play and it's rather inexpensive if you wait for a good deal.

BF3 will be supported for a long time to come, its the latest and greatest, you'll always wonder what you're missing if you just buy BC2 alone.

I will say though that in retrospect, I enjoyed BC2 more than BF3.

At this point, I'd say BF3..

For anyone who can order from the US Amazon site: Amazon has the premium edition (boxed only) of BF3 for 29.99 again today for Cyber Monday. HIGHLY recommended since you get the base BF3 plus all 5 expansions for being premium.. you then just use the serial key to add to origin once it ships to you.

BC2 for its time before BF3 was a blast to play, logged in like over 500 hours easy and actually got a tad bit bored with it and never hit rank 46....you get all the unlocks and stuff then all you do is chase kills just to get medals for your weapons...

Maybe i log into BC2 at the wrong times but lately i land on servers with camping base rapers, complete idiot teammates, almost as if there is mostly just kids playing this cause their mothers won't buy BF3,cause i never saw such stupidity till after BF3 came out.

Maybe a weird observation but get ready for that, its unpleasant enough to turn me off from even playing it anymore.

BF3 itself is pretty fun,i am at colonel rank 69 out of 100,have not gotten all my unlocks and its not boring yet, logged in more hours then i did in BC2 as well.

I don't know about the playerbase comparison between the two, but if there's enough people playing Bad Company 2, I'd say get that. I liked it much more than Battlefield 3, and I do like BF3. It was just more fun and I love the destructibility of the environment. Simply awesome.

I don't know how many hours I put into it, but I played BC2 on the PS3 loyally for 2 years. It was a very good shooter to convince me to play an FPS using a controller. The problem is probably going to be the thin playerbase now. I can occasionally get onto the PS3 BC2 and find games with people in them, but they don't last long.

Man, very good times with that game.

hmmm....
thanx for so many replies...
well i also wanted to ask whether on my current rig fx 4100,gtx 550ti,4gb ddr3 1600mhz i would njoy bc2 more or bf3?

Your current rig definitely WON'T enjoy BF3.

I like BF3 for the air combat, but infantry combat in BC2 is better IMO. BF3 maps are either way too wide open with little cover, or too closed with everyone swarming around 3 choke points.

Although this thread is focused on online play, I would also offer the opinion that I thought the BFBC2 single player experience was a lot better than BF3, and certainly worth the very low price you can get BFBC2 for right now.

400+ hours played in BC2, 20-ish hours in BF3 since release. BF3 really dropped the ball in my opinion. Their promises of fully destructible environs and redaction to that immediately before release probably soured me a bit though. I can't really say to the present state of either game, but if BC2 has the populations to support it, it is a much better experience.

Agreed with both of these. Does anybody know if BFBC2 or the DLC Vietnam is popular? I loved playing those.

On another note, I tried out BF3 for the first time in 6 months, and I CTD 5 minutes into the round every time. It's apparently a very popular problem since it's newest DLC...

I'm going to have to vote BF3, I can at least find a server without hackers/aimbots. I've tried BFBC2 a few times over the past 6-8 months and every server I try has some hacker/aimbot that just annihilates the other team.....

I have reverted back to BC2, though admittedly the quality servers are few and far between these days. My advice is to purchase a copy of BC2 if it is $10 or under on Steam, as it is a great experience even with a declining user population.

lol, every server? where are you located?

I can consistently find hacker free servers. What I seem to run into a lot are whiners that cry "hacker" every time they find someone with skill.

enjoyement in wat prospect...i know it wont max out bf3...neither do i want to..a frnd of mine has a same config and his is fine..on high settings..(singleplayer)

Yes, it will play BF3 fine. I have a friend that's a beast, and he only recently upgraded from an Athlon X3, 4GB DDR2, GTS450 (to $140 8120+970 Mobo, 8GB DDR3, with a used GTX465).

Turn shadows low, turn AA lowest, that should be fairly smooth. If it's still boggy, turn HBAO off. But you should be able to have a good experience. BF3 still looks pretty good even on lower settings anyway, especially if you're able to keep textures on high.

15-20 hrs in bc2 vs 1400 +hrs so far in bf3.. Having a blast in bf3. I really like the vehicles. Attack heli's are a blast.

Buy both. Sells are going to start soon too again. You should be able to snag them for a great price.

Agreed. There isn't a week that goes by that me or my pilot are not called hackers while playing..

In over 14 yrs of online gaming. I have never found a reason to cheat in multiplayer games and never will. humans vs humans just isn't that hard.

There's skill and then there's people with KDRs of 60:1 within 2 minutes of a game starting. That's not skill, that's hacking.

I'm not anywhere near being awesome at online FPS's, but if it was something other than hacking, I'd probably win more than once just by accident.

ohhh I miss the simplicity of BF1942 lol

BF3 is much more entertaining to me then BF2 was. Never played much bad company.

Ranking

BF1942
BFVietnam
BF3
BF2
BFfuture whatever it was called.
