AMD Athlon XP 3000+@3200+(2333Mhz, 166x14)
1GB DDR 333
9700PRO 128mb

I'm curious to find out if i would be wasting my time buying it or not

First, Hi. (LOL)

It ran like total sh~t on my PC with the following:
P4 530 @ 3.4GHz
1GB GSKILL @ 2.5-4-4-7 @ 225MHz
NVidia 6800nu @ stock.

Quite honestly, I don't think this game is really playable with a 128MB card and 1GB RAM of any spec.

To the op, I played it for 2 minutes before I uninstalled it.

I'm sorry but your wrong. I play battlefield 2 on a 2.8C@3.5GHZ P4, R9800PRO 128MB, 1GB of ram and it runs very well (1280X960 2X AA). The R9800PRO is @ XT speeds.

Lighting on high is a waste of time for the marginal improvement and massive overhead. Turn that down to medium and the game should be a lot smoother. On 1GB you should think about medium textures too.

Try defragging as well, made a big difference to my load times etc.

I upgraded to 2GB and it's a lot smoother although I got p1ssed cos of all the immature players and zero team play. Haven't played it for 2 weeks.

BF2 doesn't suck. You just suck

I had: 1.84 GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 9800PRO and I ran perfectly fine at HIGH. I upgraded to 1.5GB of RAM and now my load times are less than 1 minute

You just suck

Edit: I'm running at 1280x960 too

I don't know whats wrong with you guys, but I play it at medium settings (800x600) just fine with the following:

Barton 2500+
1 GB RAM
9700 Pro

I basically had the same setup a few weeks ago except with a 9800pro

It still sucked

I think this is an AMD problem. I have a P4-3.06 Northwood with HT, 1 gig RAM, and a 128mb 9800Pro and it runs like butta.

I need a new videocard but not for this game as I don't find it all that great. :p

At 1680x1050 I max out at 99.9 (BF2's max FPS) for almost the entirety of the game ('cept in super busy parts.)

All settings on ultra-high except dynamic lighting/shadows

The problem isn't lag or bad graphics but the fact the gameplay is no better, if not worse than, Battlefield 1942. btw, my computer...

Athlon 1.4Ghz Thunderbird
ATi Radeon 9200 128MB
Mushkin 512MB PC2100
WD 40GB 7200RPM

320x240
Minimum Settings
~40 frames per second roaming
~20 frames per second in combat

I love BF2, and I think it runs great on my A64 3200, 6800GT @ Ultra, BUT load times SUCK, and the beginning of the map is often totally laggy for 30 seconds as it's still finishing caching. But once that's all done it runs fine and looks fantastic.

I am currently looking for a memory upgrade.... once there, the game will run perfectly I am thinking.
