Post-truth, huh? The GOP has been playing the White majority off against minorities ever since they adopted Strom's southern strategy. It has served them for decades. They were just more subtle than Trump. It's evident in how the White majority regards different groups of people who suffer from the same problem, being dumped on the side of the road by Capitalism. It's as true for Appalachia as it is for West Baltimore yet the former engender our sympathy in ways the latter do not, thanks to the way people like Trump portray them. The aspect that makes this racist is the pattern of speech trump uses when referencing minorities. He consistently uses terms like vermin, rats, infestation etc when referring to minority individuals or populations. He uses language that implies these people are subhuman. These terms are not used by Trump when referring to Caucasians.
